MSN Messenger Virus removal?

Hi!

I friend of mine recieved a spam message with a link and opened it.. now his messenger started to send spam messages with links to others..
How can this "virus" be removed.. or is the only possibilty to make a new messenger account?

I recently removed Freaksavior from my MSN contacts due to an ebay offer I kept getting from him every time I logged into MSN/WLM.

Use a system restore point.

Or uninstall the program then delete the MSN folder in your C:/Program Files

^^Thats in Vista and XP. Whats your OS on the "problem" computer?

Then my solution should work as long as you clear out your internet cache completely and have good antiVirus software.

lately theres been a trend to ones that actually arent on your PC. they steal your username and password, and log in via a web messenger and send messages that way. The only fix there, is to change your password.
