Mushkin Announces Official Availability of World's Fastest 240 GB USB 3.0 Drive

Mushkin, Inc., an industry-leading designer and manufacturer of high-performance and mission-critical computer products, announced today the official availability of the world's fastest USB flash drive - the Ventura Ultra.

First unveiled at CES 2013, the Ventura Ultra 240 GB USB 3.0 flash drive is the fastest in the world of its kind. The flash drive boasts ultra-fast data transfer rates of up to 380 MB/s read and 325 MB/s write with rugged aluminum casing for additional durability and resistance. The Ventura Ultra drive utilizes USB 3.0 -- 10 times faster than USB 2.0 -- and is backwards compatible with legacy USB ports and devices.

Additionally, the Ventura Ultra is one of the few USB flash drives in the world to offer USB Attached SCSI Protocol support, which allows for command queuing in order to maximize the transfer rate potential.

Exactly, it looks like it's made up out of rejected parts from other projects. Considering this thing is likely to cost $100+ you'd expect to see a product that looks like a retail ready device, not like something out of the spare parts cupboard.

If they're using Sandforce then I'm amazed that it fits within the USB power spec. Max power has to be less than 2.5W in order to be backwards compatible with USB 2.0, and that's not common on Sandforce SSDs.

If you are correct, anyone thinking this will retail under $300 is crazy. After all, you are getting 256GB of NAND, a Sandforce SSD controller, and a SATA to USB 3.0 bridge all on a stick.
