I did this a while ago and took pictures, just remembered I had them so I'll show you guys.

I want a new case, but can't bring myself to spend the cash. Probably should, the PSU struggles so I could get a new one too and kill two birds with one stone.

This is the PSU specs-Not powerful enough?

Anyway, I always wanted a Black case, but for some reason I ended up with this silver one. So I decided to paint it black.

I used two cans of Dulux Flat black spray paint.

First I had to pull it apart.

With the front off

Then all the components came out

Then I sprayed it.

And reassembly time

And heres what it looks like ATM

I'm very happy with it, its my first attempt.

What do you guys think?

Not bad for your first attempt. My first was a flat black on the inside too and a gloss on the outside. Then I discovered the glory of powder coat and have not looked back since.

Nice paint job man, can never go wrong with black :D

PCing a case, thats gotta be pricey.

Would look hella sweet though, if I was painting a case I'd do the inside matte/flat black and the outside metallic :D

That depends. If you do all the prep work yourself and just bring the parts to the coaters it should not be high at all. What costs is having someone prep the case (strip it of paint and break it down into individual parts). I think PC is actually much cheaper than an auto-grade paint job and you get great results...way better than spraypaint from a can in terms of durability.

I like the blue details on the bay leaves...looks great.

did you try to get the blue lightning looking streaks on the plastic covers? A lot of times its hard to get paint to bond to plastic.
I must say like CD mentioned the effect is pretty cool.

Psycho you did a psychic job in first attempt. I really liked the idea of lightening on plastic plates.

Not too bad. About $250. They did all the metal prep too though. I just stripped her down and they did the rest. Very hard finish though. Not to mention they get it in ever little nook and cranny too which is good for people with OCD.

@PsychoD... How did you do those lines on the bay covers? Just by hand?

The blue line effect was an accident :D

I tried a blue on the bay covers first as a practice.

I must have put the black on too thick and put it in the sun too soon and it cracked.

Was a nice touch though.

Thanks guys.

I'd say it looks as if it was intentional. Kudos PsychoD great looking paint job. I want to black out the inside of my 900 soon. Maybe all while thumb screws and possibly white fans. What do you guys think? All black and white with chrome theme.

Watch out for those cracks up front then, if the paint dried back there or cracked the edges of that black paint are going to be very week. And the more contact made with those the farther back the blacks going to be which will show a lot of blue. Right now looks like lightning, anymore and it might not, so just be a bit careful.
