So I managed to blow out the foam from my Klipsch 12" subwoofer about 6 months ago.
I did not want to just toss it out after all it is a Klipsch Sub! so I went looking for a repair kit watched tons of video's on the "how to re-foam speakers"
Picked up the repair kit.

Prepared the speaker for the procedure.

Fixed Speaker reinstalled after 48 hours of working on it and WOW!!!!

Okay I know that you can pick at it and I welcome it.

All I can say is it works like the day I bought it NEW!
I did not mess UP! I actually fixed it and I took out the Diesel Audio speaker I had in the box I made and OMG IT SOUNDS BETTER THAN THE Diesel Audio speaker!
I can not actually believe this, I thought at best it would be just okay but it's AMAZING!
Things one can do when they just apply themselves.. And they say pot heads never do anything?

Not only did you learn something new, you gained confidence, AND you just saved some space in the landfill by not throwing it out!

Yes Exactly. Thank You.
I must admit the part when you put that foam to the speaker was for sure one of the most nervous times I have ever been trying not to shake not pushing too hard lining it up just right, Knowing all the time once that foam touches that speaker it is ON! No moving it around no play time it is ON permanent like.
But once done I waited a full 48 hours before testing and placing it back on the audiophile setup.
I was and I am still Amazed.

It's really satisfying to be able to do things for ones self.
Try it out.
It is a satisfying moment when things can be fixed rather than replaced.

Haha, this is probably gonna sound funny, but I'm more comfortable replacing the driver or wiring a c/o than replacing a surround. I didn't know people did that. My first thought would've been to just swap the whole speaker out lol. I learned something new there.

That is something I would like to try out next.
Make my own driver and everything. I did do that once in High School back in the 80's and I did get an "A" for the 3 speakers I fixed.

O yeah for sure, do be careful though as the gap is smaller on smaller size speakers and some the gap is very small (my tannoy MK2 come to mind). And putting a little volume though can be also a test to see if the coil is catching.

Here?s a couple that i posted previously.

Here:s one i posted about changing the ferrofluid, although it only needs changing when a speaker has been heavily used.

Anyways nice job, nice to see someone else on here doing it too.

You can change the coil spider and cone too, imo though i don't like doing and avoid as much as possible unless they are the actual manufacture replacement.

If the foam\rubber is not showing any aging it's pointless.

Those Tannoy were dated 1987 and the coils are real close and are 8" speakers but not in the normal sense so be careful and do plenty of research before you buy replacement surrounds.

How ever you might make them look better but replacing surrounds when their is no need is pointless. You MIGHT be able to make them sound better though changing what ever they filled them with and if it was a much older speaker you have to be careful as some use glass fiber.

I would listion to them a lot with different kinds of music for a month or so and it's about trail and error.

I've wanted to try this, but I'm just worried I'd mess up the alignment when I'm done and have the coil rub on the magnet.

Once I accidentally pulled the magnet off of a cheap speaker I got, and getting perfectly aligned so it wouldn't rub was very hard.

Speakers typically blow due too amp not having enough power as your better off having a amp that can supply twice the power than the speaker can handle then the rest is down to common sense, this way you get far less distortion.

But they are just SONY speakers, personally i would just sell them for parts.
