Hello all, i back from summer and bought GigaByte 8600GT

OK lets see how looks my package and card :toast:

Package (On pictures can click to get larger images) :

Here you can see how big is box

Here you can see whats inside of this box and of course new card :D

The card have Silentpipe II tehnology so it is passive cooling on it ! I think i will OC this card, so i put 80mm fan on card and it looks like this:

With Fan cards temperature is at idle around 45°C, and at load im not tested yet ! :)

Ok lets see how it work in 3DMarks: ;)

Test with stock card (600/720):

3DMark 2003 = 16333 Marks
3DMark 2005 = 9608 Marks

Test with little oc (650/750):

3DMark 2003 = 17104 Marks
3DMark 2005 = 10003 Marks

Here is the proof:

Stock card picture in 3DMark 2005:

Sorry but my picture with stock score in 3DMark 2003 is mising somewhere :wtf:

Little oc pictures in 3DMark 2003 & 3DMark 2005:

Thats all folks :toast: In future days i will oc higher, dont have time at this moment ! In box been orginal Supreme Comander Game :D :D

Maybe you can in this thread 2 make a small review of your 8600GT, it will be nice to see other people 8600GT cards

I can see that it is good that i didn't get a 8600.I score at stock speeds almost the same as you do with it overclocked.I think Nvidia screwed them self on the cards below the 8800GTS and GTX

Well just a little update, im still investigating. LOL

I thought i would get rid of vista and put xp back on as it felt a little bloated. And since then my pc is restarting itself randomly. I've not managed to get through a test in 3dmark without the computer cutting out.

The pc was moved around last weekend for some decorating so i need to see if i've knocked something. I'll let you know how i get on asap!

I would be checking your ram is seated correctly and check that cpu cooler of yours to make sure it didn't budge when you moved the pc....

Let us know how you go....

Thats my plan mate, i'm gonna take it all apart and sort my wiring out at the same time. While using the max core feature on atitool my gpu temp went right up to 80 degrees and my cpu went up to 56.

I've never had temps this high before!

Hey Crow, I just realised you live in lincoln. I was born in lincoln but moved to Aussie when I was 4.... I used to live on Euston rd.... lol My old man was a coppa there for about 10 yrs.... :)

Anyways how did you go with your machine??? ^^ Those temps above could be expected on your vcard if you oc'd the core heaps with a stock cooler on it.... and the cpu is a little high with that cooler on it but not thru the roof....

Keep us posted

Well it only seems to cut out when the video card hits 75 degrees.
So this weekend im gonna purchase a new cooler and dust out all of my pc making sure all is still snuggly fitted.

Hopefully then i should be a bit more stable!

Well a little update for you guys.

Tonight i decided to take the stock cooler from my video card and see what lied beneath. Looking at the stock thermal pads for the ram and thermal paste on the gpu itself im amazed the card didn't fry itself.

Anyhow i removed and cleaned up all the old thermal paste and applied some new paste to the ram and gpu. This has reduced my temperatures by about 10 degrees on load.

So i ran 3dmark 2005. But i still only scored 8596.

http://service.futuremark.com/orb/resultanalyzer.jsp?projectType=12&XLID=0&UID=10991415

I really do not understand why my score is so s**t.

I know my motherboard is a bit cheap and nasty and i am allready saving for a new one so maybe this is the answer?

Well im lost for words!

I bought a new zalman cooler for my gts which has brought the temps down loads.

With an overclock to 770/1050 its runs perfectly stable at 52 degrees. Which is a lot better than the 75 i was hitting on stock cooling with stock speeds.

But i run 3dmark 05 and only scored 8818.

What is going on. A user with a 2.2 ghz x2 athlon scored 2000 more than me and both my cpu and graphics are clocked higher!

Can anyone shed any light on why my computer is so slow!
