Asrock motherboards have really bad problems with ATI chipsets! The worst problems are with the ATI graphics cards! :)

I had many problems with my 9800xt when i ran it in my ASRock motherboard!

Try and get a friend to try out the graphics card for you, in another PC. . .one without an ASRock motherboard in it :D

If it doesnt work in another motherboard / PC. .post another reply back for help! :)

All the best

Well this may sound crazy:

But what CPU do you have in there? Try updating your Asrock bios.

I used to work at a pc shop here in austria.

We got a shipment of 50 9200SEs which we wanted to use for our lowcost sempron/asrock (mATX board, forget which one) based PCs. Everytime we slapped that graphics card in there, the PC would not boot. None of the parts were busted...just the combination Asrock/Sempron/9200SE...if we slapped a different CPU (in other words, no sempron, but Athlon CPU) or different graphics card on the board, it would boot fine.

So your problem is basically that your board does not want to use that 9200SE...simple as that. Try a bios update, if that does not help...you have to go and grab a different board (and just sell the Asrock one, it ain't busted...just does not work in your combination).

Asrock may be cheap, but they are very low quality. The first few P4 478 pin boards did not even use the Intel spec, and left out the 4 Pin power connector...had a whole bunch of problems with these. Call me crazy, but I somehow liked the low cost k7 ECS boards more...

Seem's that your only left with one choice. .get another motherboard! :)

ASRock are the worse motherboards you can buy. .IMO, so ditch it and get something a bit better :D

hmm is going to be hard to find something good and cheap...

my suggestion is an MSI 845E Max board...should be dirt cheap. got mine for 39€s, + original P4 cooler for free (thanx to the store owner were I bought it from). its nothing fancy, but anything else would be overkill for your system. Your CPU is 400FSB, same as my brothers 2.4Ghz. So a 875 board is out of the question, and a 865 is way to expensive.
