Eee-pc 901, upgraded to 2GB's of ram and an extra 16GB high speed SD card...

Running Ubtuntu 8.04 with Adam's kernel.

Handles all the pretty desktop effects and everything :eek: The hardware is shockingly powerful. Oh yeah, the battery life is silly too:

Taken with Amarok+Pidgeon open, whilst SCP'ing files to it over my network and getting Amarok to process them. So basically, everyday useage :toast:

Here's a better size comparison:

CoD4 on xbox360 -> Eee pc 901 -> Acer Aspire 5610z

These things sold it for me:
  • Ubuntu works great
  • GMA950 graphics
  • Intel Atom
  • 6600mAh battery
  • Respectable screen resolution, 1024x600
  • 802.11n wireless, the range is sickening
  • It looks good

yeah that battery is sick... i was thinking of springing for an atom-based acer aspire one and buying the optional 6-cell

i've got some projects that need finishing first though...

The best part is that i can set it up as a home server - ssh access, application server, whatever really and it won't impact my electricity bill...

That, and it's basically a fully fledged laptop in a mini package

[edit] Wow, it even supports hyperthreading :eek:
