Hi Team,

My PC keeps on restarting ,

System Specs are:-
Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe
i7 3770K
Samsung SSD 256GB
Corsair CX 430 PSU
Win 7

What I have done till now:-
1.My PC started restarting so what I did, I installed Win7 on 500GB Samsung SATA drive and formatted my SSD , Full Format. and then installed Win7 on SSD, which worked for say, 2 hours or so and then PC again started restarting.
2. It once also restarted when I was in BIOS.
3.While rebooting it always asks for "Launch Windows Start up repair"
4.Yesterday PC stayed ON 20 minutes and then again restarted.
5.Sometimes it get restarted often while booting and does not even come to login Screen.

Please suggest, I don't know what's the problem.

Thanks.

Either your cpu isn't stable or ur windows might be corrupt. Could be ram or mobo or powersupply. Make sure any overclock is reset to stock. And make sure your powersupply is not too old and atleast 650 watt. Make sure bios is fully updated. Make sure all power cables are properly connected so all is all the way in.

Then after that u could try a windows reinstall again.
maybe u got ghosts that press the power button

It's most likely either your C drive failing or not stable pc

Might sound silly, but maybe it's the power button jammed?!
Open the case, boot the system, disconnect power and restart buttons from motherboard.

1. I am running my CPU at Stock only, I never overclocked it.
2. Yes I have another working 850Watt PSU, I will check with that too; lets see, but I don't see the problem in PSU.
3. Is it..? The problem with Win7 installation DVD...? Hmmm.. Let me check that too but during Setup it did not have any copying/reading problems, it was smooth.
4. I also have this Thermalright Silver Arrow cooler sitting on my i7 3770k, don't know whether it is having more pressure on CPU?
5. And I used to get many Blue screen Error before.

PSU would definitely be my starting point. I had an 850w Coolermaster doing the same thing a while ago. The fact it restarts in the bios is a strong indicator to me.

Past that I'd check your temps on the CPU to make sure there isn't a contact issue with your heatsink. If it gets really hot a fail safe will kick in and power off or restart. Your BIOS will be able to tell you the temp straight away, or an application like MSI Afterburner if you can get to Windows. As you said your heatsink my also be applying too much pressure which I've seen before. Got the stock cooler still? Try that.

Startup repair is more of a result of the issue than a symptom, so I don't think your install is at fault.

Good luck!

first i wanna check the os but since you do fresh install just skip this
have you reseted your bios or try to use another sata port
check your ram too by using single ram or just use 1st slot or 2nd slot then test it

With that 3770K CPU, integrated graphics and SSD, your 430W PSU is more than enough, but it could be failing so ensuring you have good power is where I would start.

Reinstalling the OS is a last resort option because it can set you months, if not years behind in security. But since you did that and it did not fix the problem, I think it safe to rule that out.

If the second PSU does not work, I would remove all but one stick of RAM and try that - swapping in the other sticks to try to eliminate one.

Sounds close to what my system was doing when my power supply failed. I would suspect the CX unit.

Yeah, when troubleshooting electronics, you start at the wall. Is the outlet grounded and wired properly? Is the PSU plugged in and turned on? And then, is the PSU supplying the attached devices good, clean, stable power?

Since EVERYTHING else in the computer depends on good, clean power, it is important to determine if the PSU is providing it, or to at least eliminate that as the possible cause. And the best way is to swap in another known good PSU.

Well one thing to consider, is it literally restarting or just shutting off completely?
Because if its just shutting down it could be due to overheating.

However its its just randomly restarting, my first guess would also be the PSU.

try reset bios, if not, try to play around with the RAM, run with one stick, or swapping them might do it, could be CPU cooler not secured well, might have to reseat it, could be connectors problem so you might want to try replugging everything. Try all that and see if it helps :)

Good, once you confirm it's the RAM, check your version of BIOS. Might not be updated to latest :) then once updated, insert all RAM see if it restarts, and check if the RAM is compatible with your motherboard.

Thanks all guys for your valuable inputs, my PC works fine now since last 3 days with 15 hours uptime in breaks without restart, I did below things

- Cleaned my internal stuffs, (MB, HDD, Cooler and wires)
- Unplugged all wires and plugged in again.
- removed some unwanted wires from case.

don't know what exactly solved the problem but now its working fine without restart.

Thanks a lot! :lovetpu:
