Any chance you use a wireless mouse ?.

You could all so look in device manager too for USB devices being able to wake the PC.

Try this method..This may prevent any possibly shutdown issues

Right-click on My Computer > select Properties > click the Advanced tab.
Go to Startup & Recovery > Settings > System Failure
Untick the box in front of “Automatically restart.”

Thinking the power button is dirty\broken\faulty, what if you keep holding the button does it stay off ?.

If it's dirt some CRC electrical cleaner should do the trick.

How much do you know about how PC's work ?, as you can replace the power button with 2 wires and you just temporarily touch the 2 wires together to start it.

You can all so swap the reset switch too.

What case and motherboard do you have ?.

^^^This^^^ You computer is immediately being woken up out of sleep mode. Disconnect all unnecessary USB devices. Try a different USB mount and different keyboard.

Note that this can be caused by a "too" sensitive mouse that senses tiny vibrations, even from someone walking by the desk. Flipping the mouse on its back when done using the computer may help with that.

I'm interested in what may be causing this, my system does this sometimes too and it's NOT a sleep or USB issue, shut down means shut down, not sleep.
I guess we will have to wait for the OP to get back to us with what he has tried, to solve it.

Disable fast boot, see if it makes a difference. (I think you don't need to disable it, holding down shift while clicking power off should force a full shutdown, iirc)

Maybe look at this option, used to have to go in to that so it actually shuts down. I believe i do not have the option due to being on a AMD setup now.

Maybe it's the OP problem too ?, even more so if a device is actually triggering it.

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
On all the company images I disable fast startup and the BIOSes are set to not wake on USB. If someone wants to wake a sleepy PC at the office they have to push the button.

This can be caused by any number of things but it's a problem I haven't really seen since switching away from Asus boards. I guess ASUS does wake on USB a bit different to Asrock/Gigabyte.

You can check in your eventviewer why your PC shutdown and startup.

Press <Windows> + R, then in the <Run> window, enter eventvwr.

If you go into <Administrative Event>, then sort by time, search the moment it happenned. You should have an event of type <Kernel Power>.
It should give you the cause of the reboot or boot. If not, look at the event close-by that happenned before or after.

From knowing the cause, you'll know the solution.
If you want, copy the whole event here if the description is too cryptic. I'll let you know what to do of it.
