My power supply exploded, advice is warmly welcomed...

So I had this incident a while ago where my monitor went off multiple times and I started restarting my system over and over again, until eventually due to how old it is (and/or maybe due to the fact that I accidentally unplugged it lol) my power supply exploded. No joke, literally exploded. So as one would normally do I decided to build a new one but I'm kind of terrified of using the same case. Does it affect my new parts or not? I would appreciate recommendations.

This might sound weird but , this is my friend he told me about what happened , it turned out that he was running an old Chinese PSU , the case is fine.

I might stink a tad form the old burning components; that's all that comes to mind....

How bad did it go? did it leave black powdery dust everywhere?

Just get some 90% alcohol and wipe her down; you should be good to go....

I would be more worried about the parts that you had hooked up. There is no telling if its toast or danish toast. You might need to fork out for a new everything apart from the case.

Always buy a reputable PSU always always always. None of this cheap chinese junk that you can buy off ebay, amazon or aliexpress that boast 600w for $25. thats asking for trouble.

He killed the mobo , he was running a C2D E7500 paired with GA-G41M-ES2L.

The explosion left literally nothing the case was clean , the PSU , Mobo both were dead.

Not a serious loss then! Time for a 9900K and 128GBs of DDR4 and 6 2TB SSDs with 4 GTX2080Ti's

Just make sure you dont power it with a $30 power supply.....

A better answer than my first one: Cases, since the ATX standard, are essentially inert. The only hazard a case can present is if the damage would cause a short.

He may want a new case anyway since that case might not have the ventilation that a modern computer needs.

He already has a 1050TI , will be getting an i5 2400 and 16GB of RAM.

jokes aside, your case should be fine. I'd worry more about using anything that was inside it at the time of the incident...
