My ProBook 6540b won't boot.

Hi, i have a ProBook 6540b and i can't install any type of windows on it, i tried different usb flash drives, and different usb slots. It won't boot the usb, it just skips the boot. Please help.

Did you check the BIOS settings for boot devices? You have given almost no information.

I checked the BIOS setting, the usb is bootable i tested it on other pc, and the probook is working, i formated the usb drive in FAT32 and NTFS , niether worked.

I downloaded the iso image from torrent, and i wrote it with Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool and Rufus .

Reset BIOS to default (also, you could try updating it first, then reset, but at glance I dont see that any of revisions had anyhing to do anything with USB boot), then try again?
P.S.
I had this model for exactly two years at my workplace, run Win 7 and 8/8.1, which was installed from USB...

I reseted the BIOS , and it didn't work, i really don't know how to update the bios, i found an update i tried to make it bootable but it doesn't works.

Is it in a USB 3.0 slot? Try putting it in USB 2.0 and see what happens...make sure the USB slot doesn't have the SS label next to it if you're not sure. On my ProBook's...the 2.0 slots are on the right side.

I use flash drives ALL the time with Windows USB tool(and Linux). As others have mentioned, I hit esc, then F9....then scroll down to the device and press <enter> to make the magic happen. Perhaps you could also try putting the USB drive as the primary boot drive in BIOS.

Lastly...If you've upgraded to the F.50 BIOS, then switch to Legacy Mode in your BIOS from UEFI.

Does it matter if the usb is made for GTP or MBR partition , or the boot mode ( EFI , UEFI ) ?

You're loading up windows 7? Try it in legacy mode(MBR, EFI)...

Another thing...what type of OS are you making the installation disc from? Is it 64 bit? or 32 bit? And what type of installation did you put on the flash drive? 64 bit? or 32 bit?

As far as I know you can only go from 64 bit to 64 bit when loading an ISO to a USB flash drive. If there are workarounds, I'm not familiar with them.

FAT32.

While you're at it...you could also confirm that your Hard Disk Controller is set to "AHCI" in BIOS vs. IDE.

I read through your comments from the beginning again...I didn't catch this the first time. Perhaps it could also be the .ISO.

If all else has failed...you could do a hard reset by unplugging the laptop, removing the battery and holding the power button down for a solid minute. Then try the USB's again.

I've finally done it, i created a bootable usb drive with rufus 2.1.
At partition scheme i selected MBR partition scheme for BIOS and UEFI computers and at file system I selected NTFS .
