I told ya this card is awesome! All we need are some OC+Load temps and you've done a well deserved mini-review.

I have to disagree with your 7/10 for Cooling. The after market heatsink is 2x as large and the fan really isn't all that bad. I do think the memory heat does need to be addressed more, but really we need to lift the cover and heatsink to get a better picture.

I think I'm on to a winner here

CCC has easily been maxed out @ 700MHz GPU

I haven't even needed to do any BIOS mods yet

From the stock results in Furmark the average FPS with settings of 700/2.05GHz have gone up by 10%, and minimum FPS by 10.6%.

Next up: OC+load results with fan @ 90%

I did make a note of what memory the card is using though

I know.. all XFX had to do was solder 8 metal pads to the base and it would turn rubbish memory cooling into something quite effective. I was shocked when I saw how much paste was splodged all over the core as well. Since cleaning all that goop up and applying some AS Ceramique even idle temps have gone down 2c :toast:

I'll see if I can OC the memory any further now I have remounted the pads so their more even.

I dont suppose there is any way of ghetto modding that XFX cooler for the ram?

And is there anything on the back of the PCB which actually requires cooling?

No way to ghetto mod, cooler is one big solid lump of aluminium :banghead:

From what I've noticed so far theres nothing that gets hot on the back of the card, in fact, it kinda looks like the layout of the 4870/90 cards.

Not easily. Royal pain in the arse cutting bits of alu up, making sure their all exactly the same depth, getting a spot solder gun, etc etc.

Id get some Akasa Thermalpads, unless if the distance is close enough to use the Ceramic compound for the ram.
