Need advice for new top notch motherboard!

Hi guys, I am putting together a new system,which consists of the following hardware so far

Corsair HX620W Modular Power Supply
Q9450 Quad Core
Antec Three hundred Gaming Case
Ati 4870
Ultra 120 extreme
Samsung HDD 250GB
2x2GB DDR3 CORSAIR C9

As you see,the only thing missing is the motherboard.I don't know which one to choose.I am looking for the best possible motherboard in terms of overclockability and stability ofc, on a Quad Core cpu.Which one would you veterans suggest?

p.s. a motherboard with crossfire would be prefered,since I am planning to fight for the ATI camp!

The mobo is a great spec. DDR3, X16 crossfire, PCI-E 2.0 and all of the works, if i was upgrading my PC today i'd get it.

They would be at the top, Gigabyte and Asus are pretty much the kings when it comes down to top of the range mobos. I put an older version of that board in my bros PC and have had no probs with it, first class mobo. I have a Asus one, much older had a memory controller go in it, but nothing to serious to write them off. You will get people on here that love Asus and love Gigabyte... to me its the best spec that wins and not the name, i think either or and your home dry!

The X48 range have full x16 crossfire support on both PCI-E 2.0 slots. The X38 only have 1 x x16 and 1 x x8 when in crossfire. But you have a 4870 so your way ahead there!!

EDIT: Oh and DFI LAN party are great too... little expensive tho!!!

All depends on your budget!

I would go with the Gigabyte board it's 12 phase, extra firewire port and pci slot.

12 phase voltage regulator module (VRM) Rampage is 8 Phase.

LANPARTY UT X48-T3RS ye thats the one i'm looking at this very moment.costs quite a bit,but if its worth it I don't care,usually the motherboard is one of the few pieces I don't think of expenses

anyone has this,any real life experiences?

DFI offers more Bios options than any other board some world records are done on a DFI Board. you should only buy this if your into extreme overclocking how extreme? like liquid cooling is on your shopping list obviously it isn't and you didn't know what VRM was so you may want to look into a more consumer friendly board.

Yeh I've had experience with DFI and phase change+liquid cooling in the past

I am quite crazy,but lately I haven't been after the new hardware releases.It seems though that now I fried my old pc and I'm forced to get a new one hehehe.I plan in beginning with air cooling just to get to know the platform,then install liquid cooling on it.

not released yet and I don't think many will buy it because of nehalem. you could always purchase a P35 DFI Board will have to drop the DDR3.

Incorrect the x38 has 2 PCI-e x16 lanes. Company's tend to make multi colored PCI-e slots if there different speeds.

2 x PCIe 2.0 x16 slot, support at full x16, x16 speed
3 x PCIe x1 ( the PCIEx1_1 (black) is compatible with audio slot)
2 x PCI 2.2

The x48 will likely cost you some more for example the Rampage but only heard good things about it. There great mobo's.

1 other good thing about asus,is that some of them already come with an X-FI sound card.That's a nice asset
