Amazon claims higher write/read speeds than any other website which show the following:

"Read: Up to 240 MB/s. Write: Up to 145MB/s. Sustained Write: Up to 100MB/s. Shock Resistant 1500G. RAID Support"

vs amazon:

"write speeds clocking in at up to 270MB/s read and 210MB/s write"

Exact same product number.

man i'm going over some of these items, i could of sworn this mobo had an eSATA.

I realized that i really don't like the reviews on that mobo.

I am going to downgrade the blu-ray for a 100$ or less dual-layer dvd burner and get a better mobo. Perhaps that original eVGA for 250$ that i saw. Suggestions on the burner? Plextor?

The mobo is grat, I can vouch for it... many of my friends have used it and had no problems whatsoever... Actually, the gigabyte x58 boards are one of the BEST. Also I'd still go with the HAF 932 if I were you... you won't need the fans then.

From what I've read, the GTX 275 is BETTER than the 280, so go with the 275 This one looks good.

The Shin Etsu paste I suggested is dirty cheap and ranked the highest!

I can't stress how much the gigabyte x58 boards are... if you want, go with the ud4p, but I tell you the ud3R is great... lemme see if I can find a review...

Why don't you get the ud3R from Newegg?

Did you read the reviews from newegg? Half of the reviews are bad and even the 4 egg ones are people mentioning that they had LAN, RAM or other issues.

It doesn't have eSATA, only four ram slots and I can't find any other good reviews about it. I've read many mediocre ones.

newqegg reviews are the best way to go... As I said, you can go with its bigger brother if you want... the ud4p

Why are different sites giving me this conflicting information on that 30g vertex SSD? Some print higher read/write speeds than others [example w/ links a few posts earlier].

Ah gotcha.

Btw, did you see this air-cooler listing? They listed my Fenrir choice as #3 and you suggested the xiggy which didn't even make the list. What were your reasons behind this cooler?

I'm not trying to be a jerk, i'm just curious.

Didn't make the list most probably because they didn't test it :p The S1283V or Scythe Mugen 2 are really good choices because they give a lot of bang/$. But I'll do a bit more research for you if you want, it's just that these are usually the way people go.

Could you link me to the Fenrir please?

Do I need to have support for Sata 1 and II or do they use the same cables/ports?

This was the link to the turbo vertex you showed me before:

"Read: Up to 240 MB/s Write: Up to 145MB/s Sustained Write: Up to 100MB/s"

I guess they fixed it.

Because they don't offer everything at the same store, and even if they did, the prices are cheaper in certain stores.

I saved over $100 in shipping costs alone by researching all the different sites thoroughly.

Final Items:

-----------------------------------------

CPU from MC

GFX - still haven't purchased

Ram - Crucial 6GB

Case - Zalman GS1000SE + Fans

MOBO - Gigabyte ud3r. [There are just as many people against the ud3r as there are for the higher end boards so I don't see a reason to get the more expensive ones. Especially since they only offer a few extra things that I wouldn't use anyways. Too bad newegg only offer replacements and not returns, but whatever.]

Mouse - Razer Mamba

HD - The Vertex Turbo 30GB SSD and the 1TB WD Caviar Black

DVD - Sony Optiarc

AS5 Paste, which reminds me that I forgot to get the cooler.

Some DVI to HDMI cables for my HPw2207h monitor.

PSU - The corsair you suggested.

Al in all it will come to about $1500 if I still get a gtx280 for $240 or so - so $1260 for the afore mentioned items? Something like that - and that includes shipping costs.

-----------------------------------------

A word to the wise [or not wise], DO YOUR RESEARCH. Even when it comes to which items you can get from where for cheaper or NO shipping costs. I saved AT LEAST $100 on shipping and only had to order from four sites [most from three, just the ram from one other - because it offered free shipping and lower base price].

All in all I'm happy with my choices and am somewhat relieved that I'm finally done. I could write a book on all the stuff I learned over the past few months.

Thanks for all your helps.

I still suggest you get a GTX 275... but yea, I would agree with the quote right here.... In my first few months at TPU, I learned a bunch... and I still do learn now. Worst was that I wasn't interested in computers until the exact day I joined TPU :D
