just got mine in from Newegg and the PCB is like DedEmbryonicCe11. funny thing is when your go to the ASUS website this PCB belongs to the Reference 4850 NOT the TOP4850. On the asus website the 4850TOP has the dvi placements different with the s-video begin in the middle. Are they using REF 4850 and just loading the TOP bios?? any thoughts-

Hello everyone,

I bought the Gigabyte GV-R485-512H-B card when it first came out and have since added extra cooling. So now my temps idle at 39 and max out at around 60. I would like to add a little more juice to my board. I have my clocks set at 680/1100 but still get some artifacts when playing Crysis. Would a newer bios help? I am not looking for a crazy overclock, but when I see lots of people with 700+ core I get a little jealous.

Thanks

just flash a new bios on to your card and you can overclock your card in CCC over 700

Does it have to be a Gigabyte bios or will anyone do? Can you recommend one?

I found this thread looking for information about my new card. I just got a ASUS 4850 TOP/HDT/512M/A from Newegg yesterday. The memory is Qimonda.

Sorry for the horrible image quality of the RAM chip.

Some high resolution pictures of the card itself: (non-reference design)

I tried to submit my BIOS with GPU-Z and it said it was already in the database so I guess it's not needed? The version # doesn't exactly match the one I saw in the database so maybe it's just renamed?

how does your 4850 have a GB of ram?

i have a TOP4850 and mines only 512MB

I just tried using the ATI Winflash Utility on my wifes msi 3870 and it didn't work. I just got error messages. I have read the the Guide to Video BIOS flashing on this site. I'm gonna try that I guess. Always trying to do the easy way ya know.

on another note have fun voting today!!

I tried every bios of 680/1050 MHz. One of them showed artifacts even on desktop, one just overheats card very quickly (to the thermal shutdown) One is working almost perfect but with high load it shows small artifacts. I have good ventilated case I've applied Arctic MX-2 grease and fan is spinning.... Voltage measured on capicitors at full load (gpu-z 1.123V) is about 1,32V (i think its high value, maybe some components failed) I can try voltmod card to lower voltage but i can't find PCB layout [same as DedEmbryonicCe11's]) Sorry for my english.

Looks like *.029572 bios version is for my card, heat problems was caused by sound card that was covering about half fan on gpu.
