If you LOSE your password, then you also lose access to that account.
So always store your password in your memory blank.

You can change your password at will.

So all been said. Thx

I use Gmail and never had a problem.
Complicit in the fact that google scans all emails for targeted advertising, and other purposes.

So what? Odds are the recipient's email provider is scanning the email anyway. Or the recipient themselves is collecting, sharing and selling our email addresses.
for targeted advertising, and other purposes.
Except that is not happening! I rarely get spam messages in my inbox these days. If there are any targeted ads, chances are that "spam" will be redirected into Gmail's own spam folder!!

And besides, I don't know about you, but I cannot remember when I last talked about a product or service via email - a product or service that might generate some targeted ad.

I'll echo the above (with slight modification), I've used gmail for years and just don't get any spam or nonsense resulting from it's use.

Fact's are, the ONLY truly secure email would be between clients on a closed "intranet".

Even if you encrypt your message before sending, and you send it to a trusted friend who then must decrypt the message, can you then, with 100% certainty, trust your friend to be as security aware as you? Can you be sure he will never forward it "in the clear" to someone else? Or that his computer will never, as in NEVER EVER be compromised? No.

If you don't want someone else to know the contents of an email, don't send email. Walk to your contact and whisper in their ear.
