If you don't need hyperthreading for video editing/rendering then I would get a 2500K and try and get the GTX 580 xtreme 3GB edition which I think should contribute to more of a performance boost than a 2600K over a 2500K but thats just my two cents.

Agreed, replace the 2600k with the 2500k since there isn't significant gaming difference between each to justify the price difference. You might as well get the Lightning XE over a vanilla 580 for the extra vRAM and cooling. You'd make use of it in games like Crysis 2 (DX11) or Far Cry 2.

As a side note, that PSU is based on an old, rather hot running platform. You can get an Antec CP-850, which is built for that case, cheaper, and is a much better unit built by Delta.

There's one more thing i've been wondering about.

Should I just stick with the gtx 580 or go for dual hd 6970s and up my psu to 850w? Or wait and get two GTX 560 Ti 448's? Or the Lightning XE?

Do you really need to have a FULL tower? There are several spacious mid towers out there. You save some money, some space and weight, and you don't really need 6+ bays for HDDs now do you?

I'd sitck with a single GTX 580 for now, most probably the MSI Lightning Xtreme Edition.

As been mentioned already, the i5 2500k would be more than enough for gaming already.

Do you really need the PRO's features? The P8Z68-V would be enough.

The fans it comes with are sufficient already. Well if you want to add some more fans, there are free slots on the side (1x 200m or 2x 120mm) or the bottom (1x 120mm/140mm).

I own that case. The default fans are more than enough, hence the HAF name. Great case honestly it's the best I've ever owned. That current price on Newegg is $20 bucks cheaper than I paid for it.

I would fill the extra fan slots on it just to keep temperatures a little lower which would also be beneficial if you want to try any overclocking on it when it becomes dated in a few years
