Need help figuring out how to OC this computer

I want to OC My rig. Look @ specs. It has a Gateway BIOS, so it's locked. I already tried ClockGen. Nothing. I even tried CPUFSB, but it told me I couldn't modify the PLL or whatever.

What could I do?

I attached CPU-Z screenshots of everything @ stock, to see if that would help.

I'm no expert, but those who are probably will give 1 of the following responses, either you can't due to it being a prebuilt computer, or, you would have to unlock the BIOS.

It's not a prebuilt... I got just the mobo and CPU from my friend who took apart his system.

His prebuilt system. First I would get a copy of your bios and post it here. Maybe one of the mods could unlock it for you but on your side I don't see any workaround.

tbh...nothing.
a locked bios is a dead end, dells are the same and i tried to oc that but it was no go. the only way is through 'special' pll's (or something) on the mobo but i dont think yours has em if you tried clockgen and the like

Well you don't really have to get your specific bios version, just post the model and a link to the BIOS download and I'm sure you'll get sorted out.

Honestly i dont think your gonna get very far with that CPU before the heat kills it off. my cousin runs one of the bitchez in a retardedly old pre-built system & it frys like chinese stir fry chef. i think there are a few heatsinks that may still fit that socket but heat will stil be a major problem with that cpu.

also another problem is that the motherboard in use is possibly a fairly old one since the bios is locked down. good luck finding a bios to flash over the old one with. i doubt that will give you many options even when flash though judging by the age of the system.

Give up man. That CPU is bloody frying already... Get yourself a Cheap dual core celery system with a GA P31 DS3L board and OC from there.... far more perf and fun.

I understand your worry, but the whole point was that if you're that desperate to overclock your P4 you might want to look for a new mobo.

also there are pin vcore mods for s478.. you'd need to raise the fsb somehow though, i'd get a modded bios from say someone like ketx or athlon x2 and see if they can unlock the fsb, if not, try software ocs like clockgen with the vmod and see if it works at all. otherwise, besides the bsel mod, you're outta luck man.

I have this same exact board and can't find the bios update on Gateway's site. Intel bios won't work but is there anything else I can do?
