Need Help Flashing a GIGABYTE GTX 1650 OC

Hello all,

I’m currently having issues with a Gigabyte GTX 1650 OC (4GB), I’ve spent a couple of hours troubleshooting with looking around the forums and trying to cross-flash to another BIOS to allow for the reduction in the fan speed bellow 59%.

I’ve tried multiple guides which use the 1650 but with no luck, I’ve experienced cross-flashing before but never had these issues. It seems like I’m trying to cross-flash to another board ID, which means when using the mod version of nvflash it comes up with the GPU mismatch error. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this with the same GPU and could point me in a good direction with specific forums or the correct bios what has the same device ID etc.

I've looked around for drivers, as I'm aiming to cross-flash to a Gigabyte 1650 Windforce version which allows for the fan stop feature. Just the fan speed at 1800rpm is obnoxiously loud at idle.

I’ve followed these guides what have been posted on this forum before:

Thanks.

What is your deviceID on GPU-Z? according to the database, it should be 1F82.

Firstable, did u make sure that the idle gpu temp is within acceptable range? Like 50C and lower. Because if the fan doesnt stop at idle, there should be a reason for that (for reference, even my rx 580 in furmark doesnt go beyond 36%, and that is an old and unefficient card, which consumes like 3x power compared to a 1650:eek:.

10DE is just Nvidia vendor ID. It should be 10DE-something.
10DE 2188-1458-4028.

The issue is with this model from Gigabyte, the fan is locked at 64% even when its at eg 26 degrees.

Some vendors set the minimum fan speed too high so even in idle or low temperatures the fans are still too loud.

Oh, thats not good. Can you please check if the fan header (on this gpu) is 2pin? If thats true, (and its not 4 pin) then idle-stop would be problematic, cuz if the card doesnt have the necessary circuitry then the bios flash wont do much.

The fan header is a 2 pin, just checked.

Yeah... i think i knew the card model, had build a pc for a friend a couple of months ago. The (easiest) option to lower the noise is to split one of the fan cables and put a 25ohm resistor into there, that would lower the rpm to like 1000.

There is no Gigabyte SKUs in the database for this device ID.

Just other vendors:

You can try to flash the reference version:
Just completed the flash, its reduced the noise level considerably. Seems like it's running at 35%?

0 RPM? Make sure the fans runs at load, and the card still works as intended (run some 3D app).
I'll run some tests now, the fan seems to be spinning at 35% from the noise levels - as from the old bios it used to run at 35% when booting.

0 RPM is normal for 2-pin fan header, but make sure the fan and card still work.

Just completed the tests, the fan operates normally and with the temperature. Managed to reach 57.9 degrees with a fan speed of 60%, with idle fan speeds at a minimum of 35% with a temp of around 35 degrees. Just seems like the BIOS change has bricked the RPM reading, as it stuck at 0RPM whilst the fan speeds changed with the temp.

Hi,

Could you please tell me if your card is a rev 1.0, rev 2.0 or rev 3.0 ?

I have the rev 2.0 version (the one with TU106), i flashed it with the bios of the Windforce OC rev 2.0.
It's perfect now, i control the fan speed, and rpm is displayed correctly.

TU106 is rtx range, the op was talking about 1650. So completely different cards.
Edit: sorry there is a tu106 version of 1650 indeed, but as you said that with your card you can adjust the fan rpm and stuff, your card's fan appears to have pwm (4 pin connector), which again differs from the op's situation cuz his card had 2pin fan

As usual, what you are saying is wrong man.
I do have a gigabyte gtx 1650 oc rev 2.0.
It's a TU106, it's locked with less shaders...

Here is the proof:

Please try to not mislead people here as flashing operation are error prone, but with you around it could really be dramatic...
