Need help interpreting RealTemp results

Hi all,

Thanks for the great software! I am new to this OC lark and need a little help interpreting my RealTemp results please.

I am running an i7 940 OC'd to 3.66 GHz on an Asus P6T Delux v2 mobo. My Coolermaster V8 went duff and the CPU was running at around 64c idle so I have just fitted a new Corsair H70 unit. I have read many articles on i7 CPU temps and would like some opinions on whether these results are ok? I ran a Small FFTs test. I was told that my CPU should never go above 72c or its life will be reduced?

that's a very general statement, and no longer really true. still, i try to stay below 60 whenever possible.

your temps are safe - and probably within reason. i get just under 40 with my 920 and h50, so check airflow but all in all it looks good.

try to max the fan, using better thermal paste, i guess thats kinda enough coz your hsf is nice
or try to use bigger fan and if it needs lapping the hsf to maximize the heat transfer from processor to hsf
with that i guess your temp will lower than 70 degree
