I tried by all means, but to no avail
I tried with my buckup bios original
But I do not think that the problem in the original bios Because the message says --ADAPTER NOT FOUND--
This is what I interpreted to Oanni weak in the pronunciation of the English language

Run the following command "atiflash -p" this should show your 6870. If you have a camera please take a picture of your monitor AFTER you run this command so I can see the output.

BTW: Solaris17 your french is pretty good if you're not using a translation link? ;)

First off..... I can't understand why you would flash a 6870 with a 5850 bios.... But anyway...

If I'm not mistaken, doesn't all of the 6000 series cards have a dual-bios switch on the cards just in case of this situation or is it just the 6900 series?

If not, then put any video card in another slot and try to flash it then.

EDIT: Nevermind about the bios switch, I seen that has been asked.

merci mon frere solaris je prend ma deuxieme carte - nvidia 7300- et je le mettre dans le slot 1 et mon 6870 dans le slot2 et je le mettre mon original bios sur un flash disk usb
et je reboot mon pc ......!!!!
atiflash-p
'Adapter not Found'
'ERROR 0FL01'
press 1 to continue
jais rien compris

Translation:
He made a mistake and didnt put a space between atiflash and the -p command I told him to put a space their and add the bios name to the command as well.

Translation:
I told him that he might need to tell the store/company what happened and return it. I also told him their might be a way by jumping pins on the bios chip and asked him if he was good at soldering. The only issue is that I cant confirm that this method is possible with the 6 series of cards

This has always been an English speaking forum (at least since the German forum was removed). You know this. If you need to discuss it further (I certainly do not) by all means PM me.

HOW did he flash a 6870 with a 5850 bios?
I mean, I couldn't even do that if I were drunk ! I mean, that's like IMPOSSIBLE to do. The filenames are too different...I mean who is going to click "5850", even if they don't understand a SINGLE word of English?

That's just stupidity.
Plus, why is he posting on THESE forums? Why not where he got the file from?

I just went to the bios collection area, and ALL of the files say CLEARLY "5850". It's blatant. Either this person's English is so bad, that he can't understand NUMBERS, or he had absolutely NO idea what he was doing or even what video card he had, and just downloaded the first thing he saw. :respect: :banghead:

Since the BIOS files are clearly named, the ONLY way he could flash a wrong BIOS is if he tried the lazy person's way and ran a batch file from a "flash package", without being able to READ The contents of the file itself. That's the only way this could happen. The ONLY other ways this is possible is if you have multiple BIOS files on your system, and had the file name changed to something like BIOS.bin or DEFAULT.bin or something, changed the wrong one, and then flashed with that...

I suspect he downloaded a batch package and ran a batch file to download. And if the original archive was called something like "Forceflash.zip", and, with his bad English, downloaded the wrong link (because he didn't understand what he was reading), *THEN* I can see this happening :)

If he actually CLICKED a 5850 BIOS directly, withi the name 5850, then he should never be allowed near a computer again.

Moral:
If you're getting something from an English forum, MAKE SURE you understand the language, first ! If you can't understand what you're clicking, then either LEARN ENGLISH, or find a website in your native tongue.

Personally, I've gotten BIOSes from chinese websites that have no English on them at all, except for the file name itself, but I at least have enough computer knowledge to know that (in that case), if the file or page I went to had a link that said "P5QL_SLIC2.1.ASUS.DELL.bin", then I know that is the BIOS I was looking for (friend wanted to flash his board with a SLIC bios, and I had to go find a link that wasn't dead...). A person with limited computer knowledge (like the OP) shouldn't be going anywhere near this....

Well aren't you special?

Plus, why is he posting on THESE forums? Why not where he got the file from?

Maybe he downloaded the bios from this website? Or when he googled it brought him here? Either way, he came for help because he messed up. Are you going to tell me that you're mistake free? Instead of bashing someone for their lack of computer knowledge or their lack of knowing how to speak english why don't you do something constructive and maybe try and help the guy? Or, better yet overclock your shotgun while it's under your chin.

Mistake free, no. But he never explained how he flashed a 5850 bios....
All the 5850 bioses I found said 5850 on the file name...so how is that a mistake? :/
I'm not the only one who asked this question, either. I just took the liberty of looking in the BIOS collection to see how this was possible...and it just isn't...

As far as my "flashing mistakes"...I've never had one from downloading a wrong file. I know how to check what I download, and I'm extra careful at non native language websites. Only had a "mishap" from using a BIOS editor that apparently didn't save the file correctly, or some sort of incompatibility. I forgot, but I think I was trying to edit and flash higher clock speeds several years ago, into a 4870 or x1950xtx, flashed, rebooted and got instant kaledioscope. I simply plugged in a PCI video card, set bios to pci first, plugged in pcie after power off, flashed the stock bios, and I was good to go...

If the OP could have actually linked what he downloaded or what he got....
