Here is the ram i have - Corsair TWINX Dominator Dual Channel 4096MB PC12800 DDR3 1600MHz Memory (2 x 2048MB)

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3424736&CatId=3361

Primary timings:
9-9-9-20-4-27-8-4

9+9+9=27.

9+27=36(TRC)

TRTP should be 6.

TRRD and TWR are fine, but some sticks require TWR of 10 @ 1600mhz

secondary timings:

Currently

8-10-4-3-3-110-0

I run 8-2-5-4-4-110-110(110/110 @ 90/90 for 1333mhz)

I must verify the bolded timings, will do so with an edit.CONFIRMED

All that said, you should be able to just bump up multi, leave all else @ stock, and not even worry about it. something is definately amiss here.

as erocker said, those volts need no adjsutment for me, even up to 260 on that board, my Crosshair3 will hit 300mhz "FSB" with stock.

500w PSU is pushing it, IMHO, with what you got..maybe just that alone is your issue, but you should be able to get 3600mhz with jsut a multi jump....

Also, what dominator sticks do you have exactly? 2.00v is pretty high...

TOday sometime i will hookup my Ultra LSP 650W psu and see if it will do better

Well, just at stock, and a couple of fans, you're pushing over 400w for sure. GTX280 can use 250w easy(some draw 300w). add in the 125w cpu, ram, the board, the drives, and for overclocking, I'd not use less than an 850w. Cpu power consumption is not linear when you increase speed, so I'm even surprised that you can do much at stock...

It was mentioned earlier, but I missed that for some reason...anyway, when cpu and vga consume 70% of PSU's available power...dualcard might not even boot.

for your ram, I'd run 7-7-7-20-6-36-10-6/8-2-6-5-5-110-110 1.925v@ 1600mhz. Set it, and forget it. Well, test it...but...

It's so damn cold here right now that if I go outside, exposed skin will freeze in less than 5 minutes. Going out, just to get into the car, is quite literally painful. The fog outside is made of ice...-36 ambient.

Even then, 650w would be the minimum psu I'd use, for STOCK.:p

here's a screenshot of my 1333mhz mem timings...you can give them a try if you like:

Volts:

I never leave anything on auto, so if there's another setting you want, let me know. I'm pushing 2600mhz on the nb/2000HTT

OK with the new PSU i can hit 4ghz prime stable for 30 minutes (didnt let it run longer than that)

top temp it reached was 58deg cel.

i tried 4.2ghz but it BSOD after 5 minutes of prime 95.

YES the PSU was the issue but as you stated earlier that i def still do need somthing bigger than 650W.

temps will hold you back, if that's the case. 58c is pretty high for AMD chips. But 4ghz should be fine. You just might get 4.2 with better cooling and bigger psu...that chip sounds like it might have potential for 6ghz under liquid nitrogen, depending on what volts you are using...4ghz should require 1.425v, hopefully. Up the NB to 2600, use my 1.3625v there, and you should be good to go...

So it was the PSU then? bummer. Those voltages are ok, although I wouldn't push any more on the vcore.

Hmm but when i changed from the 500W to the 650W it was finally stable at everything at 4GHZ and below. cadaveca mentioned that i would need a bigger PSU to continue to overclock it more.

HT is too high. I believe 1.2v is stock. That's all you need.

I don't think your rig will get close to pulling 650W of power. However, I would get something with more headroom.

Is your FSB/HTT at 200/2000mhz?

I am stable with these settings:

Your FSB/HTT are fine. Try setting your NB and HT voltage to stock. NB=1.1v HT=1.2v.
There's not enough on the NB VID. For now set that to 1.3v.

BSOD when i do that :( they dont like the stock voltages. i can only seem to get it stable at NB 1.30 and HT 1.36.

something still feels wrong about this

Chicken Patty is right about the psu. Temps will hold you back. Don't worry about volts causing damage so much, just take a look at the pdf erocker linked earlier.:

http://game.amd.com/us-en/content/pdf/AMD_Dragon_AM3_AM2_Performance_Tuning_Guide.pdf

CPU VID: CPU Voltage Identification Digital – a register value that programs the motherboard voltage regulator
(VR) to a specific value. In short, the CPU VID determines the CPU Core Voltage level. In the case of the AMD
Phenom II X4 955BE CPU, the default CPU VID is usually 1.325V or 1.350V. The Maximum CPU VID value is
1.550V. NOTE: VID value may not always equal to the actual voltage level (see “Voltage OFFSET”). VID
value can be adjusted on the fly with AMD OverDrive utility. Note: VID value can be increased only on the Black
Edition CPUs.

But you can also read the disclaimer:

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE AMD PRODUCT WARRANTY DOES
NOT COVER DAMAGES CAUSED BY RUNNING COMPONENTS OUTSIDE OF
SPECIFICATION.

Also, much more than 4ghz and you are running into what seems to be the limit for C3 phenoms and 24/7 stability. Just the way they are designed, I guess, but at the same time, 4ghz is more than enough for everyone.

All that said, I think another bios is in order for C3 Phenom scaling and this board, too.

One thing to note is that HTT and SB votlage are tied into one another, and your SB volts are 1.35v. this might be why you cannot pull down HTT volts. Using lower-volt ram might help as well, as it's best to keep all volts within specific ratios.

But even if not, nothing seem to worry me here...it's literally just that easy to overclock and find the max. Call it done @ 4ghz, and stability test overnight, at least.

i checked my SB volts and there stock at 1.2v for some reason AOD sys 1.35 and turboV says 1.2?

I havnt checked the bios for hte SB voltes yet but i will once i restart.

The cooling i have now is a tuniq tower 120 and it idles around 33 deg cel.

OK did a 3dmark06 with my setup at 4ghz and just wondering if this is a good score with a GTX285. I did a 3dmark05 on windows xp on stock 940 black edition and got 24405.

ALSO did a everest ultimate benchmark and it did quite well! beat out the Intel QX9650! makes me smile!

Hmm.. My SB voltage reads 1.35v in AOD as well. In the bios it's set at 1.2v. I really don't understand why you need the NB and HT voltage considering we are using the same board and same CPU.
