I'm currently running a Sapphire HD3870 with a TT Duorb and have it volt modded to 1.4 even with my clocks running 904.50 for core (stock is 776) and 1251 ram (crappy ram imho, stock is 1126) If I push my core up to the next level it's stable under full load for about 20 minutes before crash and any higher on ram I get artifacts although AtiTool doesn't report any I see flashing yellow blocks. My highest temp after running artifact tester for 24 hours was 61 degrees. Just want some input to see if y'all think I should push it a little harder or be happy with what I have?

Atitool isn't really good for seeing the highest temps, you should try furmark instead, it will push the card to its limit so you can see how hot it gets when running extremely intense games

but in casual gaming furmark might show you a temp that too high

the furbench heats things up big time.. everything.. my system pulls another 40 watts from the wall running it than it does gaming or a 3dmark..

but there are degrees of stability.. mine are..

931 core clock for the furbench..

918 core clock for 2006..

about 860 for gaming..

the main point being the gaming one is hell of lot lower then the benching one..

yeah, currently it's rock solid in games at these settings as well at least in frontlines and crysis both running about 3 hours on each. Temps still around that range. Another thing to note is that with the stock cooler idle times at 300mhz were around 60 and full load temps with fan forced to 100 were over 100.

edit: another thing that I was wondering about is about 99 percent of the 3870 series I see are red but mine's green and came with a crappy alu single slot hs

edit 2: have been running furmark for 2 hours now at 904.5 and max temp of gpu is still 61 flipping back and forth to 62
