Hard to describe in the title, but I need to build a box for a friend for recording guitar tracks, mixing ect. Nothing high end. He has a high end tascam controller unit.... no don't know shit about this stuff.... I would like to build a haswell i5 non k build for him. He has tons of ddr3 already, and as most musicians are, he's on a budget. I have to buy from ncix.com, if anyone has ideas from there, please suggest. We already have a huge case, a corsair 750w psu, 2 ati 7850 cards, hd ect, just need a mobo and cpu to replace the old amd setup that was in here. We want to add a good soundcard for now, and eventually a good usb dac.
The shopping list is short at ncix, and we need to keep the price under control.....
I think a grand is max, and that includes a 24" monitor. And a keyboard and mouse....

I doubt that you will find older generation hardware in regular store. I saw only i5 4460 for hefty 275$, but honestly, I would rather buy slightly used or new i5 4590 on ebay, amazon or similar marketplace for such hardware. The same goes for the motherboard. Look for MSI, Gigabyte, Asus or Asrock H97 motherboard.
Considering monitor, if you want with DVI port, pick the first one on the list (cheapest) LG 24M38D-B. If you want with HDMI port, consider Benq GW2470H.
