Age doesn't matter with these coolers, it just works. (back then for me at least)
your right they just work, i just used a chipset heatsink from a Pentium 3 board that I have, that died on newer board, hole space hasn't changed in chipsets in the past 25 years

Trust me it is not my GPU. My GPU is single slot and doesn't go above 50 C. and is exhausted by a top mounted 420mm rad. My chipset runs that way because it has a SSD RAID 0 array, a huge SSD and a WD AN 1500 with all of the onboard USB connectors are populated, with a NVME drive to keep everyone happy. I will agree though that the triple slot cards are a hinder. A proper riser is about the same as a Alpahcool or Byiski block. Corsair makes it easy to order watercooling parts and you could use Alphacool Quick connect tubing to make it totally painless and serviceable without having to drain the whole thing. A 360 (Copper) Rad is about anywhere from $60-$100 and Groovesland in Germany does free shipping World wide over $30 (Tubing).
I have yet another brilliant idea (I'm not arrogant :)) What if we apply thermal pad to backside of the motherboard? The pad would squeeze between the case and the motherboard. That will enable cooling down the chipset from both directions. Please look at the screenshot:

I thought the best cases were made by Lian li and Asus?
They both have some good models but ymmv. I was talking about quality cooling brands — neither Noctua or thermalright make cases, but they make excellent fans and heatsinks. Phanteks makes fans of similar quality.

I wouldn’t say any particular case brand makes the best cases, they all have duds. Silverstone might be the most consistently good manufacturer, but a lot of their cases have middling tooling and features. Fractal is great, but a lot of their cases are middling in cooling.

I’d just watch a few gamersnexus reviews and you’ll get an idea of what the market looks like. I’d start with the latest and you can check the charts for the top performers and work from there.

Or you can buy a motherboard that comes with a backplate...

Note: This motherboard is just an example, there should be AMD boards with a backplate as well...

The entire back is covered by a backplate designed to relieve stress in a uniform manner and provide additional cooling with thermal pads sandwiched in between.

Here just a new review of an MSI board which also comes with a backplate:

Well you could get a backplate, the issue would be the normal height between standoffs and case, sure you could match that distance but you'd need 3-4 silicone pads, and the thermal resistance would be just slightly less than air at that point.

In order to find the gap between the gap and the mainboard and the case backbone, we should look at the specs of male-female hexagonal standoff height.
Version 2.1 of the ATX specification states that the length of standoffs needs to be at least 0.25 inches (6.4 mm), with their cross sections fitting within 0.40 by 0.40 inches (10 mm × 10 mm) square areas centered around each mounting hole on ATX motherboards.
So I will get at least 5mm or more thermal pad. The standoffs standard is specified as 6-32 jackscrew

X570S is meant to be a passive one. Even the original X570 would've be fine without a fan.

While attaching a backplate to a motherboard is a good idea, primary concern is to support the motherboard stance, not cooling.Back of the chipset should and must contact directly to thermal pad and the back plate at the same time.

I have added the thermal pad which was left over past experiences. The result however is promising. idle temperature is 45c degree.
Keep in mind that my chipset is underclocked.

The 60MM fan arrived yesterday but I drank a few too many beers watching the World Cup and then some Boxing :) :). I will definitely add that too though as it seems to be a good thing.

This is one of the things that I appreciate about TPU. You and I and others came to a nice conclusion how to solve the heat problem with X570S boards. especially given that regardless of what people may think it is an issue (If you like a nice cool PC in HWinfo64). The X470 boards did not have a chipset fan (Been fooling around with a Gigabyte X470 Gaming 7) but that was 3.0 and did not have the bandwidth (heat) of 4.0 but board manufacturers subscribed to the narrative that people did not like the fan. The issue is that all of the reviews I saw on Youtube had no issue with the fan but the comments of people expecting that the size of the fan would mean increased acoustics were overblown across the space. That translated to the ultimate AM4 X570S platform being built without a fan which directly led to this very thread. The issue is that this is not anecdotal and very troubling in terms of how opinion without context can influence product development.

Always happy to help. :D
Btw, adjusting the speed of front and exhaust fan is definitely have some positive effect. To do this try fan control.
Now my chipset is 42c degree.

Have fun with the world cup, I am watching too:)
