i think change my fontale grill on my h500p in plastic by grill in mesh and keep my dark rock pro 4

and i think add 2x 200 mm on top pwm it's good idea ?

Well a front grill would help a lot, it would keep your case cooler and thats better for all your hardware. Extra giant fans would also help. Not sure it will make your overclock better by more than 100 MHz but your motherboard, videocard, ram, and other peripherals will be "happier" with a cooler ambient and more active airflow, so it seems like a good idea. The nice thing about aircooling is there are no leaks, no hassle, and even if a fan fails the system will keep running, so overall its a less stressful prospect.

There may be other ways to improve airflow without spending money. This guide might be helpful

If you want to spend a lot of money on a watercooler just to get a few hundred Mhz, I think it is a waste. I personally have gone to 5.1 on my 8600K and I cannot tell a real difference between that and 4.6 in games and just general browsing. I just picked 4.6 for my daily clock because it is the max for my stock voltage of ~1.16.

As far as delidding goes, you will see 10 to 15*C temperature reduction, but it also likely won't give you more than 100MHz I also think it is a waste on an average CPU, it won't turn it into an above average CPU, it won't make it perform any better, it will just make it run slightly cooler with some real downsides.

That paltry gain comes at the expense of a lost warranty, complicated resale, and the possibility of damaging the component during modification.

Improving overall airflow however is worthwhile because it will extend the life of your components. Modern case trends are solid front bezels and suffocated motherboards.

I have just discovered that you have no idea about delidding and what the chip is capable of.

Stop telling garbage stories.

Hes running 4.7ghz. Cant run 5ghz because of thermals.

Cooling plays a huge impact on 8600 and 8700 processors.

A decent water loop would have him between 5 and 5.3ghz respectively.

1) I have delidded in the past, don't care for it.
2) Hes running 4.7 at a fairly high voltage, iirc it is 1.3V. The CPU is solidly in the average category. If he was to go for 5+ it would still probably require over 1.45V unless he was subambient.
3) Wasting money on a loop simply to have 5GHz bragging rights won't enable him to enjoy gaming any more than 4.7 GHz. Its just throwing money away.
4) As far as things to waste money on, it makes little sense to throw money at an i5. If it came down to spending $300 on a "decent water loop" or just selling the CPU he has for $180 and buying an i7 8700K or i9 9900, it would make more sense to sell and upgrade.
5) It makes no rational sense to chase 5+ GHz, it doesn't improve game performance, it doesn't improve OS performance. It just costs money and makes your hardware not last as long.

I could not agree with this sentiment more. It is one of the reasons that I don't understand why some modern cases do not even support 140MM fans and have those tempered glass or totally covered front grills. For me watercooling is what you do after you have exhausted the other avenues. Before I would delid the CPU I would get active air flow over the VRMs.

That chip will do 5ghz voltage on auto. Hed only need to set the multi....

But since he has high temps, that wont happen.... For him or you.

He's seeking 5ghz, and Im just trying to guide him to the cheapest easiest route for way better temps.

Just because you dont like delidding does not mean others wont.

Just because you dont like water cooling doesnt mean others wont.

You need to specify whyiquid cooling is good and bad.
Same with delid.

So far you have nothing but cons to report which to me shows you know little about either.
Thats my opinion on this matter only to speak the you spend 300$ on a water loop and use it for the next 5 to 10 years. Expandable. Upgrades.

But hey, just keep listing cons. It really helps ya know?

It goes both ways here. But as for the you comment? I have done it on air.

I mean daily 5ghz on air....

Oh nvm. You're set on your thoughts its cool. Or runs warm rather.

Cheapest way for better temps is still a delid even if you have to buy the tool. Thats all there is to it really.

Ill step out let you guys do your thing.

What settings did you use in OCCT? I ask cause i did a test today with my i7 8700k. I used "Small Data and AVX2" and watt went to 195W with 4.7 GHz allCore in AVX instructions and 1.34 vcore. CPU Temp was 70 degrees after 10 min testing and then it began to throttle, all 10s to 3.7 GHz then up to 4.7 GHz and so on. So i think in my case the vrm is the limiting factor in this special case. So if you use 4.7/4.8 GHz with AVX2 it would be interesting what your power is and if it is stable at 4.7/4.8 all time

I used OCCT v 5.4.2

Edit:
With a 280 or 360 AiO you will get better temps than with air cooling independent of your cpu is delidded or not but delidding will improve temps further.

Did a test right now, small data and avx2, test started with 66 degrees cpu and 192,3W, after 10:30 mins it throttles to 3700 MHz. CPU 69 degrees and 193W. So i think the vrm of my mainboard overheat with this specific test. Use small data to see how high your power gets

CPU at 4700 MHz allCore with AVXB48D5DC7-79DA-4E15-A65C-846EDC4C9DDD.jpegC42B4D37-B609-4B08-A229-EC190B487636.jpeg13C37899-17BF-4678-9830-130F190EF1B4.jpeg

In the last picture you see the throttling
