We don't use Netflix anyway.

Some of my favorite comedy series are British. I own the complete series of Are You Being Served and Fawlty Towers on DVD and still watch them regularly. Monty Python's Flying Circus was very funny. Benny Hill was a little raunchy but I liked it and Dr Who (science fiction) was great.

I miss Top Gear so much :(

I literally never watch TV..... but I loved that show.....
O lord, the crazy crud they do on that show is hilarious at times. Like the vehicles go over water...poor toyota. Heck, poor heliux...
About the only show I watched while over there for two weeks. Plus, their version of the History channel is nice as well. I miss some of the food though, so tasty.

I like the British humor at times. Hmmm, I think I'm going to go watch Red Dwarf now. Hehe, reverse planet. :p Forgot, I do have Monty Python and the Holy Grail, all ways get a good laugh from the bunny scene.

Hype here in Latvia was quite real when Netflix announced the whole world expansion.
Then we saw how limited we actually are in terms of content.
Sure, the charge is silly small even for us, but when you look at what that same rate gets you in Western Europe, for example... You start to think if you really need it after the trial month.

The American Top Gear would have been better if they actually did realistic tests / trials.

All the stuff they did in the US Top Gear was completely impractical and was a giant joke to me... was really a turn off for me.

The British version was like a review of new cars..... It was the perfect combination of comedy, seriousness and horsepower.... That trio can never be replaced....

Its funny I read an article about one of the new guys on the Top Gear show, he is having problems talking to the camera while driving.... and apparently he already messed up a lent Jaguar.

Netflix is a complete rip off, I live in the UK and after 2-3 months of service all you see is the same crap over and over again, the film and shows selection are so small and limited I can't bring myself to pay for a service that doesn't deliver, even amazon prime video has a wider selection of films and shows and it costs less. The problem is not the content that's available but the content that's actually presented to you, watch Netflix on any device and go through the different genre's etc and most of it is hidden out of your view. They can stick their sub-par offering I'll get my media elsewhere and I'll decide what I view not Netflix!

On a side note, I've always enjoyed British humour as well as drama. I'm practically addicted to BBC America ever since I moved back to the U.S.

How many times have you now seen the entirety of Star Trek TNG?

Sky's an even bigger rip off, unfortunately I have my broadband with them but paying £30 a month for little more than free-to-air channels with a few others thrown in for good measure I hardly ever watch, it's no wonder people pirate... seriously. (no way condoning piracy btw, just saying it's no wonder people do when corporations think they can charge wtf they like for a crap service, people are always going to stick up the middle finger and find what they want elsewhere for less if it's available...)

Shouldn't be blaming Netflix for this. They're obviously not happy about it, but they can't just ignore all these workarounds. If they did, the networks that provide the content (and dictate the restrictions) would pull out faster than a.. well, I'd better keep this post family friendly.

I think it's safe to say that a majority of people aren't resorting to piracy to save a few bucks (although I'm sure they don't mind that part), they're resorting to piracy for the sheer convenience of it all. Click a button, download anything you like. No hoops to jump through, no workarounds to get region-locked content, just one click and wait for it to download. If companies want their shows/movies to not be pirated, they need to make sure the population can access it through paid services conveniently.
Steam is in the same boat here. Used to be that you had to dig through your collection of game CDs and put in the disk for the game you wanted to play just to pass the DRM checks (back when no-CD patches were popular). Now, you have people even re-buying games just so they don't have to dig out CDs when they feel a bit nostalgic.

I was pretty upset with Discovery for not renewing their contract with Netflix for their shows.
Toybota. :p

I thought Netflix picked them up, but apparently Amazon paid more.

it is a legal loop hole. netfilx have a uk base and clarkson, et al, had a thing in their beeb contracts saying they would not work for another uk broadcaster for years if they quit.

amazon are not uk based :D

"In the meantime, we will continue to respect and enforce content licensing by geographic location."
In my (ignorant) opinion, this practice is obsolete.

Prohibiting connected humans to share things between each other is not viable at this day and age.

If they stop treating its consumers as children by applying such blocking mechanisms and licenses, I'd think about getting a subscription.

But today is "No, thanks!".

Yeah, geo locking is getting old. Especially with digital content.

Remember having to help my German friend out one time because he wanted to buy the walking dead series on Amazon. But since he was located in Germany he could not. So we kind of had to do some crazy tricking the system so he could buy it.

Thats bad when you got someone who wants to legally buy the series, but because of geo locking they screw over the costumer.

What real annoying is geo locking on consoles...especially for military peeps who bought the console in one country, but the discs from the country they currently stuck in won't work on the console. Talk about pissing off folks.

They do not Geolock their consoles :) seems their Drones fly and Shoot Anywhere :)
The old ones use too. Especially the Nintendo handhelds. Think Nintendo still doing it with the latest one to date.

I'm currently on the free month with Netflix, and I have to say the choice is pretty poor where I am unless going through a VPN. I'll run out of things to watch very quickly when they start blocking me and the only alternative will be 'other sources' again.

I don't understand why we are still stuck with this archaic licensing model. If x amount of customers are paying the same amount, why have a different amount of content?
