Looks like this requires a compatible Netgear router to go with it.

No, this wi-fi extender does not require a Netgear router to work.

From the product specs page :

"Universal Compatibility — Extends b/g/n WiFi signals from any existing WiFi router or service provider gateway like Belkin®, Linksys®, D-Link®, AT&T™, 2Wire®, Verizon, EarthLink®, NETGEAR® and others‡"

Don't we have enough misinformation floating around on just about every thing out there? :banghead:

its just a wifi repeater marketed differently.

Same as with any repeater, that will vary with distance from source and signal strength.

What about the added latency?
what added latency? i'm running through three routers, one of which is a repeater and i only get 1-2ms added on.
