Network with a server (windows home 2008) has maybe 8 computers on it. they share a folder on the server for files. Recently they've noticed files have dissapeared, and i can't figure out why.

The files share is on a RAID 1 setup, but the partitions aren't quite the same, so there is a possibility.

Also recently, and possibly unrelated to the issue above, files have been popping up on a computer on the network's trash bin and my documents from other random places.

how could these things happen?

Possibly being removed by an antivirus program?

Someone is deleting the files

then it would have to be the user which uses that one computer where the files are appearing, but they don't hardly even use the server for anything but copying scanned files, and she doesn't know how they got there either.

Possibly being removed by an antivirus program?

there actually isn't an antivirus program on that server

Does anyone have any file recovery software recommendations? I need to attempt to get those files which disappeared.

Have you tried verifying the RAID1? Rule out hardware first.

Recuva but the odds are not good on it being successful.

Looking at computer management the drives are actually JBOD (didn't realize it at first)...
main hard drive is allocated for a 20GB OS partition with the rest being added to the jbod (hence my earlier statement of the drives not being same sizes).

Thinking that it was RAID 1 i didn't think i needed to do a dskchk, but i will have to do some checking now.
