Guys I am new to networking but not new to computers. I think of myself as quite tech savvy so here is my problem

I want to build wireless network in my home and the equipment available right now is:

Linksys WRT54 G Router
3 Laptops with G wireless adapters
One Storage Computer in study with 2TB Harddive
One HTPC in Living Room
Linksys DMA 2100 media center extender in bedroom
One Computer in Guest Annexe with is about 500M away from my house

I want to stream mkv HD movies to my htpc as well as media center extender. Also I want internet to be available in the Guest Annexe. Further to that I would also like the router to have the capability to accept hard drives (I mean it should have an option for NAS)

I want to keep my budget as low as possible because I am student preferably under 100$. So now go people.

Are you hoping to stream the HD content wirelessly with the Linksys router?

What version of the WRT54G do you have?

If possible, I'd stick a 3rd party firmware on the Linksys, and up the radio power to cover the whole house. Under $100 isn't going to get you a proper NAS setup, just use one of the computers on the network for that, preferably one that is hardwired to the router.

As for the guest house, I would buy a couple cantennas(or make them yourself) and put one in each house pointing towards eachother.

you also need to clarify on streaming. Do you mean wireless file sharing, or true streaming (such as to an Xbox360/PS3)
