New 24" monitor

My old HP 22" monitor is dying with psu issues, it's taking over 5m to start, it can probably be fixed by replacing some caps, but im no expert on this field...

So question is, what would be a good 24" monitor to get right now?
Preferably 16:9 because i watch lots of video but also lots of gaming when i start a new game.
I heard tft's are not the best multimedia right now, so maybe a good ips screen to match a future HD480 upgrade, something around 300€...

I heard Dell monitors aren't really meant/best for gaming?
I never had one but I a while ago I had a thread about monitors as well and some people said Dell monitors are for office use and not great for gaming.
I'm no monitor expert though....

How does yours handle gaming in general, im sure it's great for multimedia...

On another question, how about benq and AOC, im not sure asus has any ips panels though, but they have plenty high-end tn gaming panels...

Not had any issues playing games on it, although maybe I'm not super picky, but I've only owned TN displays prior to this one and I can't say there's any noticeable lag compared to them. I've been really happy with this screen across the board and 2560x1440 works really nicely on a 25" screen with no real need for scaling unless you've got eyesight problems.

I actually got an AOC 4k screen before this one, as it was on a super special offer at the time, but it was having multiple issues, like turning itself off, loud crackling noise through the speakers, not turning on etc. Sent it back for "repair" and they apparently upgraded the firmware, but the issues only got worse with a green line down the side of the display when playing games. In the end I got a refund from AOC after contacting the government consumer rights organisation where I live, but it was a real hassle. I also have a friend who got one in another country and he experienced the same issues. Not saying all AOC monitors are like that, but I'm not going back after that experience.

On a side note, a 28" 4k screen felt too big at the distance I sit from my screen and it made it hard to play games on it, as you had to move your head around to see everything that was going on.

Asus displays are usually ok, no idea about BenQ.

I like my Asus PB258Q, its a 25" 2560x1440 60HZ. High pixel per inch because 2" smaller than most 1440P, nicer image quality as a result without having to run as much antialiasing. It fits on my 24" monitor stand because the bezel is so small. Its a smaller monitor than my VH242H 23.6" second screen. I heard about quality control issues on early runs of this monitor but I have no issues, been a year new, its a flawless monitor. The QC Issues were blacklight bleed and dead pixels.

Price was $200 from eBay.
