Hi. I am new to this forum but I see there are alot of knowledgeable people here so I figured I would run this by some of you. After 3 years I decided to do a total upgrade from my AMD 64/ Nforce 4 system. I have just ordered a new Nvidia 780i setup from newegg and I think I may have bought the wrong ram for overclocking my Q6600. Here are the specs:
XFX 780i SLI MB, Intel Q6600 (hopefully G0 stepping), Zalman 9700 cooler, OCZ 6400 SLI ready Ram, 2x XFX 8800GT's (670/1950), X-fi Prelude 7.1, PC Power&Cooling 750 quad SLI.
I have read all over the place that a Q6600 can get to 3.6 no prob but I am thinking maybe I sold myself short on the ram due to reading that the "SLI ready" stuff was the best for Nvidia boards. Should I try and send the ram back and get some pc8500 to get the most out of my q6600? Has anyone gotten there Q6600 to 3.6mhz using the pc6400? What type of ram is best to overclock a Q6600 on my platform? Info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
