I have a new 8350 and the temps seem a little high. idle is 45-46 c it is in a TT Xaser v case. with the stock cooler. When I play the BF4 alpha it gets up above 65 and it has hit 68 according to the asus probs. The MOBO is a sabertooth gen3 r2. It is not OC'd. I have a AC freezer pro 64, would that help with the termps, it doesn't seem much bigger than the stock cooler. Thanks

install HWInfo64, make sure you used your thermal paste properly (not too much).
Check the core temps in HWinfo64, as they seem to be the most accurate for me.

something odd appeared. all the cores except #3 were running @ 35-36. core#3 was running @ 43. could I have a bad core, or is the normal?

Do you have Turbo enabled in BIOS?
Turbo causes the core to run faster than the rest when a program is loading the CPU.

Either that or something you're using is only capable of using a single core, so the rest are idle.

Idle temps of 30-36 are fine, and the CPU is safe to go up to 63 degrees on full load.

turbo is not enabled, I disabled when I noticed the heat issue. Is my AC freezer pro 64 a better heat sink than the stock AMD?. I will put a load on it and see what hwinfo says the temps get to.

It might be marginally better than the stock FX cooler, but not by much.
FX8350 Stock cooler is a 125w heatsink (I use it on my Trinity CPU)
AC Freezer 64 Pro is a 130w heatsink
I doubt there's much difference besides the noise factor.

Also, turn off Auto Overclocking in your BIOS.

ok finally have some time. the hw64 did show some lower temps but not but a lot lower. I put on the heat sink , and it was the ac 7pro which is a 150 watt rated cooler, with some arctic silver had the temps down on the hi end 58 for gaming but still a little warm at idle 40-41. so for now it is fixed. thanks a lot for the replys!!
