New AMD Crimson 16.5.3

This new Radon Tech Group is doing a great job updating their drivers! We no longer get the monthly WHQL ones but we do now have new ones coming out every week.

Hmm, I just grabbed the other ones lol... Have to try it out anyway because why not.

Dropped back to 16.4.2 due to a funny prompt at start up, It shows Please Wait text then welcome at windows start splash, 16.4.2s dont do this. Only other glitch I have is that notification of new drivers, tried everything to turn that off @GhostRyder, @cdawall, do you think Installing on top of old drivers might of caused this?

Sounds like it, properly delete everything with DDU and make a fresh install.

Weird that is, seen no such thing my self, i never un install old drivers and i have never had to use DDU.

Maybe some thing to do with you being on a AMD build ?.

Don't think so I am running an amd build with no issues and have yet to use ddu to unistall drivers......

Hmm, could be. I did an install over the old though for my machine and it was fine.

I was the same, never used it and when I did it always screwed something up.

But now I use it religiously and don't have any issues but then again that's on W10, W7 used to give me the issues all the time.

nah its not due to that, I fixed my issue with DDU, purged all other drivers, put 16.4.2s back in, no issue with it pestering me to update, must of been a beta driver i put in, oh well, sticking with WHQL drivers for stability

As do I. I never install new drivers without using DDU to rid myself of the old nonsense. That's on AMD driver set and the habit I've gotten into.

I did not say never but it's the last thing i would try other than reinstalling the OS. And as for WHQL is just MS's money making machine.

Really no sense in doing an OS reinstall when the OS is as fast as its going to get for me (I keep it optimized)

The 16.4.2s proved to not have that driver update glitch, plus they don't cause the rig to show a "Please Wait" for a few seconds then "Welcome" on the Desktop Splash Screen, where as 16.5.*s do.

@fullinfusion , @manofthem ,@GhostRyder ,@AsRock. Yeah I did a system restore back up, rebooted into safemode, pulled my ethernet cord, let DDU do the work, removed the old driver directories other than my chipset and put in the drivers, no issues.

Well i was speaking more if you needed too, depending on what the drivers supposed to improve, but if there is nothing in the new drivers for you, well you should not be updating them really.

I am in the same team. Always DDU, just because I use beta drivers. For whql guys yes they should not need it... but we all know whql means nothing lately. Just a stamp worth few kilo$.

If one feels the need to use a driver cleaner, I see no point in using one that leaves bits behind. I've been saying it just about every time these conversations come up, but no one ever checks with Driver Sweeper after using DDU to verify it.

Again, there's nothing special about DDU. People only use it because it's currently supported, so they assume Driver Sweeper doesn't work as well, but the fact is, it's far more thorough.

I read the notes on drivers, yeah they may fix issues in games, but they arent games I play, not too worried, I will be getting the next WHQL driver set eventually.

on another note about DDU, it puts in a service called PAExec.exe, I read it does a phone home function/remote server check or something, I removed it from DDU, the Registry and the Windows Folder, Beware yall.

No matter the drivers, i still can't get the fact that AMD couldn't get their drivers right for Crossfire profile on AAA games like The Witcher 3. Running R290 X-fire only gave me a 30% increment in performance on 1440p and it shutters like crazy.

I'm trying this driver to observe whether see "display driver crashes..." or games run properly. But i have extra bug in these drivers. I can't access additional display settings, because driver installation package didn't install cccslim.exe inside program files\amd folder. It happens when you make clean uninstall (via amd's software or DDU) I think the solution is installing an older Crimson driver then update it. (which is not recommended because of changed registry entries or other things cause problems) I can stand this annoying bug if this driver really make me get rid of damn crashes.
