    Bought one of these yesterday!

    Short story, excellent card.

After going through a single then 2 HD3870s in crossfire, I am extremely happy with the 9800GTX.

With the 3870s, I was getting too much heat on the Northbridge, and the odd stop in Crysis due to a video driver failure. They are good, don't get me wrong, but I like the 9800 better. And I have been on the ATI/AMD band wagon for a long long time, so this didn't come easily....

The bottom line was that the 9800 competely outperformed the 3870s in Crysis, and left the northbridge with lots of temperature room for a cpu overclock. (I know this game doesn't deal with CF very well, but I want performance none-the-less - and one of these is cheaper than the 3870X2 or 2 3870s)

I was also ready for the 9800 to be loud. Surprise- VERY quiet (idle). My Noctua case fans spinning at about 1100 rpm are louder....

Anyway, here are some 3D Mark 06 scores. (with the 9800, there was no comparison to other systems, as there was only 1 other submission!)

    Single 3870 - 10200
    2 3870s CF - 12500
    BFG 9800GTX - 11500

Thes may look low on average, but nothing was "tweaked" or overclocked at all. Tested on Vista Home Premium SP1. Despite the lower score for the 9800, it plays Crysis much more smoothly, with no stutter with all setting at high with 1680 x 1050 resolution....

Card was bought for 350 Cdn, an excellent buy.

    Paul

    Pictures please.

You won't be believed until there is SOLID evidence you do in fact own this card. Not only do you have no pictures but also have no other posts than this one.

Just warning you, as a flame war broke out the last time this happened.

I too went out and bought 6 GTX's to put in my eVGA 1080i board for Hex-SLI. They're so powerful that they're opening small black holes in my home.

    Well I await the pictures.

And a suggestion to everyone else, subscribe to this thread, but don't post a reply belittling him or taking the mick. Until he posts proof we don't know one way or another, let's not turn this into a flame war, it could be a very interesting thread.

Depends where you are, I am at GMT -5 (Central Time in Canada) and I would expect pictures to be on by 1630 local (likely earlier). That is 2.5 hrs from now...

Will get the GPU-Z and 3DMark06 screen too... but I don't think it will come close to 2 GX2s

Hmm interesting worse in 3d mark but better in Crysis. Defiantly some room for improvement in drivers on the amd side then....either that or Crysis just hates everything.

Crysis is mean, but its optimized w/ nvidia, so its not too surprising it outscores a couple 3870s. You gotta oc that thing man, I wanna see how far that memory clock can go!:)

You're thinking of the 9800 gx2......this is supposedly an overclocked 8800 gts, but the review that I read it did much better than an 8800 gts.

I guess the 2200 is rated then huh. lol. I guess I don't know what I'm talking about, I was thinking that was raw, not sure why (chalk it up to hope). Then it is just an ocd gts. Hmm, We shall have to wait for paul.

Would it be possible to get a pic of the card outside of the case?
