Hi guys...recently I bought a new mobo, processor, PSU and graphics card for my gateway. After a long time of fiddling, i finally got everything to boot up on the bench (still working on getting it into the case).

Anyway everything works fine except for the ethernet port. Under device manager it is listed as "Ethernet Controller", under the category of "unknown devices" (along with several other unknown devices).

Im guessing this means it doesn't have drivers for it, but how do i fix that without an internet connection? I tried plugging from my modem into my USB port, it recognized the modem by name when i plugged it in, but still no internet.

    Ideas?

As fafa21 said, your mobo should have a driver cd :) else take a usb stick over at a friends house to download the ethernet driver

.... maybe he's using wireless hence why he managed to post on here.... maybe anyways.

EDIT: here's the link for the downloads from the ASUS website for the drivers/utility, just thought it might save you a few seconds of time, lol.

Go to the asus web site and look up your motherboard model. Then go to drivers and download your ethernet driver

yep, happens to me. The PC doesn't recognise the net unless i install the LAN Driver from the AsusCD.
