Pickup the 2500k.

EDIT:

Question is though, is overclocking a must? If the premium is worth it for you go with the K, if you feel like saving a little bit of cash go with the i5 2400. Remember it can still be overclocked by an extra 400mhz.

Yeah, gonna overclock it, that's why I was going with the K variant.

Ok, order placed. Coming in for ~$540 fully shipped+insured via Ncix.com
Used price-matching + weekly special bundle on the cpu+mobo
i5-2500k
MSI Z77a-GD55
8gb Sniper 1866 cl9 RAM
Crucial M4 SSD (64 GB)
I went the M4 because I wanted a reliable sata 6gb boot drive.

I'm happy with my HyperX 120, but I am leery of using a sandforce based SSSD as a boot disk. Still hear some people have problems with BSODs and such.

Good news, my order was processed and shipped.
Bad news, minus the mobo which is back-ordered!

So I'm gonna have some expensive new paperweights until they ship the motherboard.

Can you switch the motherboard?

It was part of a combo deal, so probably not. I'll fire off an e-mail, who knows they might hook me up.

Their web help/ticketing system sent me a message saying that new stock arrived at their warehouse, and the motherboard was processed and shipped. I am now awaiting an official confirmation via email, and tracking numbers.
Things are looking up.

EDIT
Got the confirmation e-mail, motherboard is in the mail too. I might get the motherboard one day after the rest though.

Update for anyone interested.
Got my package delivered yesterday and have been busy breaking down my system and re-building, as well as stability testing.

So far things are looking good. Got the CPU to 5.0 ghz on air by following some tutorials and making a few tweaks.
Things have been rock solid so far, aside from some minor corruption on my M4 ssd. I corrected that by updating the firmware and things are back to stable.

This MSI Z77A-GD55 mobo is a beast. I'm really liking the new UEFI bios and the motherboard seems like a champ.
The CPU clocked up to 4.5 ghz with the OC Genie button, and I upped some voltages and cranked the multiplier to 50x for a nice 5.0ghz manual OC. Not bad. :)

In everyday usage, I don't really notice any improvements over my old Phenom II rig, but I already had an SSD. In games I really start to notice an improvement, much higher FPS and I can crank the AA for eyecandy.

The difference in the CPU limited games I play is mind-bottling. SC2 screams now, no slowdowns even in the biggest fights with all the settings cranked and AMD MSAA 2.0.

Thinking about turning turbo boost back on, using the game at stock in most situations, and Turbo up to 5.0 ghz for gaming.

I have it at 1.38v with an NH-D14. Should I back down the overclock to stay below 1.37v?

Nah you will be fine just as long as temps are good.

Last update.

Dropped the CPU back down to 4.8 ghz. Was slightly unstable at 5.0, and it was taking above 1.4 V to stabilize, so I decided to lower the voltage and OC.

Temps were fine since it was still relatively cool where I live, but I don't think my NH-d14 will do the trick at 5.0 ghz and 1.4+V in the summer heat.

Gaming at 4,8ghz is pretty awesome, my setup chews up everything at my LCDs native res of 1680x1050.
