New build, No POST, No Power

Hey all,

I've had a crap week, and it's ended even crappier. I got around to building the system I bought parts for on Cyber Monday:

i5-10600K
MSI MPG Z490M Gaming Edge WiFi Gaming Motherboard
CORSAIR Vengeance RGB PRO 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3600 (PC4-28800) C18
2x Samsung 970 EVO Plus
Reusing my GTX 1070 TI
Reusing my Corsair HX850 PSU

I also transplanted my HDDs but that doesn't matter.

PSU and VC are confirmed working as of this morning.

I get everything together and put the shiny pretty new rig under my desk. I plug in the power, and I notice that no MB LEDs come on, but it's a small board and it's filled with stuff, so maybe they are under the VC or CPU cooler, w/e.

I hit the power button, and nothing. Flip the master On/Off switch on the PSU, and try again. Nothing. Replug in the power cord on both ends. Nothing. Jiggle the MB power connectors, and nothing.

At this point I'm wondering if my PSU went bad during the transplant. So I've just taken my PSU out and plugged it in to my old MB. As soon as I flip the master power switch on the back of the PSU, I get LEDs on the old MB. So, not the PSU.

What else can I check before I try to RMA this brand-new just unboxed MB? Is there anything else that could cause this?

What happens if you take the motherboard, CPU, RAM, and power supply out of the case on something non conductive such as a cardboard box? Start with the minimal hardware needed to get power on, and hopefully a post on the monitor. Was there any misaligned pins in the socket before you put the CPU in?

(Possibly) Dumb question - How do I make it post without the case switch?

EDIT 2: In the case:
- Took out VC, nothing
- Took out HDDs, nothing

Out of the case:
- jump power pins - post :| So I'm wondering if I just installed the power button header in wrong?

Is there any extra standoffs in the case not required for mounting the board? Otherwise it’s possible the power button block from the case was on the wrong pins?

Solved (ish)

I think Thermaltake (I bought a new Level 20 VT case) messed up with wiring in the front panel a little bit. Hitting the Reset switch worked to power on. Now hitting the power switch works to power on (and reset doesn't).

Any rational person reading the above would say "oh, he just had the front panel connectors plugged in wrong" But I swear, I triple checked them :|

Started putting things back together and the problem cropped back up.

I do think the switches are a little iffy, but it's my TPM chip (sorry, i forgot about that!).

With my TPM chip plugged in, No Post - even when I jump the power pins.

Flip the power switch off, Take the TPM chip out, flip the master power switch on, and it Posts just fine.

The TPM worked in my old box so I'm confused as to why it prevents Post with this build. I'll note that the MB TPM plug has 12-1 pins, while my TPM chip has 14-1. Though, a quick google search reveals that almost all TPM chips (MSI ones included) have 13 pins.

Can anyone shed some light?

I did not, but I've never had that stop me from doing a reload on my old box. Would that stop a post?

Plus TPM was disabled in the BIOS of the new build so it the BIOS shouldn't even had looked at it, right ?

Contacted MSI Tech Support, and literally received an answer 2 minutes later. Serious props to those guys

Turns out my old TPM chip isn't compatible with my new MB. So I need a new TPM. That's all
