I am putting together a desktop system for my #1 son. I just got a Abit UL8 back from RMA and I have a 3500 Venice to power it. He will be using it for school work (He's mid 30's and just starting Law school) and he has a newer Dell Laptop (I think a Core Duo) I was going to put a X800GTO in it, but he says no gaming, so I have a very nice 9600XT to power his 17" Acer LCD. I am putting a floppy in it, a card reader with a extra USB 2.0 Port, a NEC DVD-RW, a 250 Gig Hitachi Sata drive, which I intend to have about 140 Gig for Win XP Home, and dual boot with 32 bit Suse 10.1 and Ubuntu 64 on 45 gig partitions, the rest for swap and stuff. I can't afford a office suite myself hence Suse which has it all.

Let's see what I forgot well 2 X 512 PC3200 I guess he will get the Super Talent which is single sided, no sense in using th Corsair TCCD stuff on a workstation. a Freezer 64 Pro for the CPU. Oh he has a wireless router so I will put in a Linksys wireless adapter with a range extender .11G, a cheaper Audigy SE sound card, some Logitech X-230 speakers, oh case! a In-Win C-583 with a 350 PSU, (It is a good PSU) Keytronic Keyboard and Logitech RX-300 Mouse

Did I miss anything

if you are leaning more towards a silent pc, i would suggest buying a Dynamat Acoustic Dampening kit. If you don't know what Dynamat is, its basically a thin layer of sound-absorbing material that lines your case. I bought a 4 sq. ft. kit for about $25, which isnt bad.
