So a friend of mine was going to trade me his i7 920D0 that does 4.0@1.25 and $50 for my motherboard and processor. Well when it came down to it, he ended up selling it. After I purchased an X58 and some ddr3. Now I'm sitting on a Gigabyte EX58-UD4 and 6 gigs of some cheapo 1600mhz ram. I not have the system in my specs as well as the X58 board and ram. What should I do? I was looking forward to moving to i7 for cheap, but now that I have to front the cash for the 920 seems kind of rough. It wouldn't hurt my pocket too much but the most I've spent on a processor is $190 for me E6750 a LONG time ago.

So I'm currently stuck with a decision. I wouldn't mind picking up an i7 920 (new or used) and keeping the current rig or trading to a friend for his lesser E5200+p5n-e sli + cash for a HTPC.

I'm kind of stuck at this point, I have the cash for a used i7 or a new. What do you guys think? Should I stick with my current rig and just relax, or pick up the i7?

Just stating, I don't really have any need for the i7. Only reason I'm mildly interested is because I wouldn't need to upgrade my chip for quite a while.

I'm currently satisfied with my 720be, it does what I want/need. But I kind of have the itch to upgrade. I'd like to try something new.

It could go both ways, sell current rig pick up i7 920 next to no out of pocket. Sell x58 + memory and get next to no out of pocket on a PII x4 955. As I stated just kind of stuck. Just looking for opinions.

Edit: Bit off the wall at the moment, had a good amount to drink.

Where I live we don't have Microcenter's. If someone here had one close I'd be happy to paypal money for the chip (Needs to be D0 and a respectable member.)

If you're willing to cover gas, tax, and shipping I wouldn't mind getting it for you @ cost. I've done it before for members, I'll do it again! Heatware: Binge, 32-0-0 ;)
