New comp:
My dad was planning to get a new comp for himself, but it turned out that the things he wants are better than my things right now. but he doesn't know that.
This is what he's planning to get but I'm trading mine for it because he thinks Pentium D is better that Athlon 64 3200+. It might be for multi-tasking but he doesn't know that.
What we're getting:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103535
2x WD Caviar 80GB in a RAID Setuphttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822135106
Sapphire MoBohttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813154009
BenQ DVD Burner w/ LightScribehttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827101642
Sony DVD-ROMhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827101131
I have my own case and a 450 Watt PSU that's pretty good. I forgot what it was though.
Sound good to you guys. Remember, this is my dad's computer, but I'm giving him my Pentium D 820 so I can have this one. Since he knows this one will be mine, he probably won't spen too much money for me so I have to keep it around $450.
Tell me if you have better suggestions that won't eat up my budget.

The saphire mobo is junk. I just RMAd mine. I just ordered a Jetway GT4. I sold my DFI LP and wanted a change. This dumb mobo was $79 and has to be one of the BEST mobos I have ever used. It has 3 PCIX16 slots, u use the middle one for 1 video card and the 2 outer ones for SLI. The OC in bios is even better than my DFI. I cant believe it was $79.
But what is really crazy is I cant believe I bought a Jetway.

If ur gonna get a ASUS get a better one. The cheaper ones arent as good as the top line ones. Actually Asus is better for Intel.

If you are going SLI and are on a budget look at the Abit KN8 SLI...Good solid board with plenty of features for around $100 (w/ plenty of OC potential). The only thing that I disliked about this board is that one of the screw holes are impossible to get to (lol not a big complaint). Plus this board allows you to possibly upgrade to an FX or X2 processor and 2 GPUs.

As for the hard drive, you could easily get 200-250GB for $90 these days. If you really want to RAID then go ahead and get those, but you could def. do better (space vs. money wise). Check out Circuit City, Best buy, Comp USA, etc. I find that the brick and mortar stores has better prices on HDs for some reason.

Also, just to let you know there is a DDR shortage and prices will def. be going up soon so if you want to upgrade to 2x1GB modules do it soon. Newegg has some nice OCZ Plat. on sale for around $150AR. Also check Monarch out, they have some deals as well AR.

Also, see if you can push for an Athlon 3700+. It is about $60-70 more. Why not try, you have nothing to lose lol. That processor def. makes a nice difference when I compare it to my 3200+.

Also, are you going to keep your GPU or get a new one since I am guessing your dad might need one (at least a cheap one)?

I'm keeping my XL. my dad is using an onboard video from the one I'm gonna give him.
Actually, I might not go SLI, probably just CrossFire, but I can't find any good CF boards. I might just get the ASUS A8n-E. It's like the A8N-SLI, but single PCI-Ex16. And everything else is the same. If I do find a good CF board, then I'll get it so that I can get 2 X1800 GTO's in CF. Does that seem good?

Uhh! I'm so tired of looking for good prices.
Here it is, but no links:
Gigabyte nForce 4 SLI MoBO-$89.99
AMD Athlon 64 3200+-$153.99
2x Seagate Baraccuda 160GB in RAID 0-$29.99 each
2 Lite-On DVD Burners-$23.99 each
2x Corsair ValueRAM 512mb-$19.99 each(getting new from cousin)
Total-about $390 plus tax & s/h
Not bad at all. Have my own reliable 450 watt PSU and Case.

What's better, that, or my second comp now planning to give to my dad:
Asus P5LP-LE(from HP, 2nd comp)
1GB(2x 512) DDR2
Intel Pentium D 820
1x 250GB Seaget Baraccuda
2x Lite-On DVD Burners
BTW, I'm using an ATI Radeon X800 XL on which ever computer becomes mine.

So... which is better?
