Wanting to upgrade to a more efficient CPU heat/fan cooler combo compatible. New system recieved 8/24/2010. System is running with a 1 gig hardrive at 7200rpm, 12 gig ram @ 1066. Windows 7. Also, have downloaded SETFSB. Can only ramp up to 2.86 before system locks up.
    Please advise,
    B. Naea

What processor? If you have an XPS system there might be OC controls in the BIOS, look around.

I had an XPS 9100 for a few days before I returned it. No OC options at all.

The 5870 had a long extension on it for shipping stability, I suppose...was like an extended backplate with a handle on the end.

Boxed the bugger back up real quick-like. Just couldn't keep it.
