New DirectX11 Benchmark - Lost Planet 2

This is a benchmark for the Lost Planet 2 game. I've just been testing the DirectX11 version and it's pretty demanding pulling over 400 watts from the wall (first game/demo to do that on my new system) I get around 40fps with everything maxed out and 4xAA, rank "B" you can download it here: http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/1854/Lost_Planet_2_Benchmark.html

I've seen it and not impressed. They took the use of tessellation in a direction I don't care for. I thought I would see tessellated things that would stand out when compared to Dx9 (specially when they segment tessellation from high, etc). Not the case here unless you nitpick photos, lol. Besides that I didn't find the IQ all that great. Game play wasn't my cup of tea when I tried it on the console.

I'm just interested in the benchmark as it seems to use all four cores of the cpu to the max; tessellation's been an add-on on every game so far (except maybe Metro 2033)

The benchmark crashed twice for me.(gave me an error saying my drivers where screwed up pretty much)

But i looked around and supposedly if you run it in windowed mode it fixes that problem.

I did manage to get one of the tests to work right one time and it was with everything on high with x16 AA and i got a B.

Also i don't think the benchmark utilizes multiple GPU's.

Yeah, set to max. I've tried messing with the settings and nothing makes any difference other than changing the DX11 setting.

I'm guessing it's the large Nvidia label on the game. All other DX11 titles (including Metro 2033) work as they should.

With no AA im 35-40 avg with a stock 465. I would peak 60 sometimes under DX11. Lost Planet was ridiculous anyways. So much taxing with lack of proper eye candy. Havent tested with AA yet.

Nah Erocker.... I have just tried playing this bench on 2 GTX 460's in SLI @ 850/1700/2000.

There is nothing wrong with your setup or anyones else's.... this bench is just a bloated badly written bench.

I hope the game is better.

I tried adjusting all types of different settings and It seems I get the same results. all over the place.

Even if you look at the articles written about this bench they show GTX 480's getting the same results as 5870's.

So if were a Nvidia coded thing the GTX 480 (Hence my GTX 460's too) Would shine. But instead.... we are seeing 21 FPS across the board.

The sad thing is... that it is even taxing in DX9 mode too (At least for me) I am getting better FPS.... but not good enough for sure of the quality of graphics I am getting.

This Bench is just coded absolute horribly!

You know at least with Crysis or Metro 2033 the games look beautiful. But this game ... there is that much difference between DX11 and DX9 to justify the Performance hit you are taking.

Maybe just my opinion!?

DX11 1920x1080

Bench A: 47 FPS
Bench B: 21.7 FPS

DX9c 1920x1080

Bench A: 52.6 FPS
Bench B: 40.3FPS

These are just gross benches for less eye candy then The Avatar Game! Now that's sad!

You can clearly see the difference in DX9 vs DX11 in this but it has nothing to do with IQ. It is just ridges and bumps which to me is honestly useless specially if the character that is being tessellated is moving fast. If I cant see the geometry of the char do to motion blur or me moving to avoid being killed whats the point of tessellating the char when it is such a performance hit.

OMG! seriously, CAPCOM, WHAT THE HELL is this???? this looks like Crap! even in DX11 those nasty textures, bad rendering, jesus christ!! you´re ruining the MT Frameworks engine!!!

I got 65 average with everything as high as it goes in DX9 on my GTX 260 on old drivers. DX9 performance seems fine to me, haven't tried DX11 but I did see benchmarks for it already.

ATI doesn't fare so hot in DX11 in this title, NV was much closer.

Performance will probably go up after driver hax get implemented and patches drop.

I bet this is just the way how the original Lost Planet demo was with dx9 / 10. dx10 not having a dedicated render path, and would just 'branch out' whenever dx10 options were turned on. Plastered late upon the app's deployment..

wow, it hink capcom was really bad with game engine remember their RE4 DX10 its no different than DX 9, because its just use DX 10 for nvdia 3 vision



btw i like the first lost planet game, because its remember me about classic shot em up. and the bos battle was epic
