Subbing. I don't want to make suggestions either way as I want to see what the mods think without being influenced. I have my suspicions though.

So you want to read posts that the author of the post deleted?
Or, posts that a moderator has deleted?

The author could just edit his post instead of deleting and you still wouldnt be able to read it.

A notification to ones own posts that have been mod deleted would suffice. I dont care to read other peoples deleted posts but i would like to know if mine have been removed.

Ah, well , that's not so bad at all. It's something that can be done and I generally do it! Sometimes there may be a mass cleanup in a thread and often times those things get missed. In those cases a moderator will usually post something in the thread.

When mine have been deleted it has been because of inappropriate content ...which is good and i modified my postings as a consequence.

However..sales of my penis enlargers have plummeted.

Yes, this is what I was thinking. I don't think there's a problem with a member being able to see their own deleted posts, whether they deleted them themselves or a mod did it and would be useful for them. However, a mod deleted post should not be undeletable by the user, for obvious reasons. If this can be implemented, it would make for a very useful feature imo. Nice idea @dorsetknob :)

Also, it's pretty obvious why regular members shouldn't be able to see deleted posts of other members, duh. Mods already can, which is as it should be.

You want to see posts selling penis enlargement techniques, getting "ripped abs" and real estate listings in Korea?
Yes please. :)

seeing your own deleted posts, or even just an automatic notification + the content could make sense.

People cant really contact a mod and ask for an explanation if they dont know what post was deleted.

I think some moderators have the alerts turn off when they edit or delete. My point is, its already a feature we have on the forums:

Do you remember this? Its from this thread...

You may also wish to note that should you get informed of a deletion and/or why it was deleted is not because of the forum change but because the moderator doing it chose to inform you.

right now the warnings are manual, we have to tick a box and type a reason.

that can be complicated if we're mass-deleting multiple posts for different reasons (post 1 was trolling, post 2 replied to troll, post 3 was a porn bot)

Not sure what the point would be in deleting if they can still be read so deleting would not actually be preventing a flame war? Mussels also makes a good point, if I were deleting 10 posts for what probably appears obvious reasons, lets say in a tit for tat NVidia/AMD war within a news thread I would not notify each individual (especially if there have been numerous reports), it just takes too long so I do where possible try to at least put a reason.
