Hold out. There's no reason to pull the trigger on one now when the 2080 ti is coming soon! Wait and watch and you'll find that sellers drop the price of their 1080 tis for an upgrade.
That's my plan, I think the newer RTX 2080's/2080 Ti's are something I'd like to see in reviews but I think for the money Nvidia are just mad trying to push people to spend so much.. But people will....
I would specifically recommend AGAINST the Armor coolers. In my experience, they're no better than the FE coolers. I would also recommend looking hard at the 1070 Ti since there is so little difference between it and the 1080.
I've heard some not so great things about these models, but I'm not sure how true it is, will look forward to finding out
