He got more fps than me playing OW in 2k (I play in 1080p) with an inferior CPU(2700x) with same settings.

Yes thats why I wonder if its faulty, maybe bad thermal paste, wonky gpus... don't know why but it overheats like crazy even tho I set the gpu fans to max. Even then its high asf temps, the frequency keeps at 1800 MHz, and my friends gpu keep at 80ºc even tho he got worse airflow (we have same room temps).
also i've saw reviews and don't know how can it reach these temps

Eh. 85 isn’t too bad but it’s higher than it should be. I’d send it back and get a replacement.
I mean i wouldnt think either its faulty at 85º with stock fan curve, but ive have had to do a manual fan curve on afterburner and set them fans to 100%

Do a quick CPU-Z 1.9 multi and single core benchmark. Then do a AIDA64 DRAM bandwidth test. Compare that to your friend's score. That would narrow it down to which subsystem in your PC is problematic.

Also you can log your GPU boost speed with GPU-Z and post it here, that will also show what the boost speed is.

85C is kinda high for stock 2070S. Also what is your home enviornment? AC? No AC? Where do you live? (humid, heat and etc.)

Your GB 2070 super must be throttling down, probably it's cooler isn't correctly mounted. RMA/buy from another brand.
My MSI card only reached 58C max during the benchmark, it reached around 65 max with gaming during summer. (custom fan curve).

If this doesn't have a blower cooler 85C is way too much, something is wrong. Even with terrible airflow I don't see how it could get this hot. Turing ships with a 83C temperature target, normally, no matter how crappy the cooling is it should not get over this value.

I'd return it as soon as possible, don't let yourself talked into an RMA or something, just return it.

EDIT: I have seen and heard of a lot of people having trouble with Gigabyte cards for the past ~2 years and almost always it is something temperature related. Not just with new RTX cards but older Pascal ones too, I'd stay away for them.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
it isn't faulty.

Ehh, these CPUs will throttle clocks back after 84C. Either raise the fan speeds a bit, or raise the temp limit, or both.

I wouldn’t get another Gigabyte card either. I’ve had poor experiences with thermals with them multiple times. :(
EXACTILY. sadly i'v had the same issues with their cards as well, they are infamous for higher temps and coil whine.

To the OP: if you can, return it for a replacement to a better brand, anything but gigabyte and zotac is a better alternative

I knoooow right ? :( it seems like they are using unbinned silicons for their cards as cost savings tactics. I aswell have read many reporting high temps with their cards and coil whine so gigabyte is a NO for me.

Even if 85c would be normal for this particular model I'd still return it. It's a crappy product, FE cards run at least 10c cooler, this one will constantly down clock due to temperatures and you'll lose good deal of performance. Don't accept sub par products.

Given how all stock Turing Bios is set to 84C temp limit, hitting 85C is definitely not normal.

If you're within the return window do it. It will save you the troubles of going through the RMA process with GB.

Hows that gonna help if he doesn't have a PSU that can power a RTX 2070? I'm more worried he put an RTX 2070 in a dell.

I think the problem you are having is the same I had with a Vega 64 Gaming from Gigabyte. The card would work well but the tempos would hit above 85 C and I would get random black screens. I took the shroud off and saw that most of the thermal paste was in between the ribs of the heat pipes. I applied some thermal paste to it and the card does not go past 65C but also clocks as high as 1675 MHZ.

Not sure if the OPs Gigabyte card is the Gaming OC version, but these are supposed to have decent temps.

My guess is Gigabytes manufacturing assembly line is not precise and thermal paste application is not consistent from card to card.
