new graphics card recomendation

im looking to get some opinions on updating my graphics card. right now i have a powerColor HD 7970 Vortex II. I would prefer a Navidia over AMD but ill look at all suggestions. i mostly play games on the computer and thats what i want the focus on. if i can i want to stay in the 300's price wise.

If you have 1080p display, an RX 480 or RX 580 will be more than enough. Even the RX 570 4 GB will be more than enough for a few years.

However, that HD 7970 is still quite powerful for 1080p and I see no reason to replace it yet unless you have some technical issues with it. RX 480 8GB and GTX 1060 6 GB will offer some 35-40% better performance than HD 7970, RX 580 around 45% better and RX 570 around 30% better. Personally, I wouldn't even consider replacing some component unless it is at least twice as fast.
