Thanks so much for these! Not sure how many people use this part of TPU, but to see it still being updated is awesome.

I see people hotlink hosting sites and i'm like why?

I can't speak for everyone obv, but my personal reason for this is pretty simple. Over the years I tried it multiple times ,and every time I had uploaded an image I would get "image is too large" error ,or the link wouldn't insert properly ,or it just wasn't as easy as it was on Imgur.

I can't recall the specific reasons exactly ( I remembered one of the issues was the images were always be rotated in the wrong direction it was super annoying so I just gave up) but I have used it recently and it's significantly better than it has been over the past several years, but the issue is , now I have an account on another hosting site with my uploaded images, & they stay there in case i ever need them again. I don't know if the tech power up image feature now hosts the images as well, but it's sadly too late now & it stinks because I admit it would be easier to have it on one site, but it is what it is

we moved servers a while ago and i redid the whole site backend, making various smaller improvements. the image editing feature has been there for like half a year.

always happy to add new stuff, especially love the self-destruct feature, so you can upload sensitive data to show someone quikcly

there was a bug last week where you could upload only like 1.5 MB, this is fixed since.

2 MB limit is there so that people don't upload full size photos from their camera because they dont know how to resize

i did use it recently, and it was nice, for me its simply a matter of having all of my photos stored elsewhere, and i like them in one place....so basically im lazy :)

If you have a problem with the size and don't want to resize or crop. I take photos. 15 to 20 Mb in size. With THU capture you get a screen shot less the 1 Mb and you can do this faster than hotlinking.
Which is also considerate of people with slow bandwidth. Because its a screen shot you can resize it just by changing the size of the window.
It kills me when someone post a pic that is 8Mb, twice the size of the browser, blurry, and un-cropped. Ok that was a rant sorry

Its literally Prtscreen copy paste it uploads for you

I have an idea for resize.

- User add image > 2 MB in the uploader
- Notification. Image too big, blah, blah, .. do you want to reduce its size?
- Yes? The image will be scaled down in the user's browser to approximately 2 MB (so no bandwidth consumed)
- and then uploaded

Worth exploring?

Definitely yes, although I’d still wish file size limit was 3MB so we can upload 1920x1080 .jpg screenshots without reducing image quality. Such a screenshot usually takes about 2.8MB.

I tried to upload a video by accident. That limit caught my stupidity.

Its not 8 Mb its 5.6 Mb for both pics

Then look at the size of this 577kb And it took me 1/3 the time about 10 sec. Do you see is difference in the quality?
