it runs fine with just the 1gb sticks in it also runs fine with just the 2gb sticks in so the dimms are all fine but not with them all in. Would a bios update fix that?

What are the SPD settings for each kit?

You might not be supplying enough voltage for one kit or the other and/or are running with timings that are too tight for all four dimms.

And running 4 DIMMs needs more voltage to the Northbridge.

A BIOS update won't really do a thing, it'll be one of these things above ^^

Thats good because i dont really want to update my bios:S

ive got the timings at 5-5-5-15 which is right for the sli ready but should be 5-5-5-18 for the platinum. is that ok?

all dimms are at 2.1v which is .1v too low for the platinum.

i dont really know anything about the northbridge

northbridge voltage will be an option in your BIOS, generally under voltage options (maybe overclock section? someone who has that board might be able to help more).

I suggest you up the voltage to the DIMMs by .1v, then do the same for the northbridge. 4 sticks taxes the northbridge more than normal, so it needs more voltage to be stable :)
