Hi guys,

When I ALT+TAB while gaming I have the same Issue. If Im watching a movie or browsing the Web noting happends, the problem only ocurrs only while gaming and since a Multitask a lot this is really annoying. With my old ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q this didnt happend. Can someone please help me?

Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64Bit
Intel Core i7-9700K
MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Sea Hawk X
MSI MEG Z390 Ace

Latest Windows and Nvidia drivers.

If your monitor has gsync and you're using nvidia gpu, enjoy crappy drivers from nvidia. Got my self Acer B323UGP last Friday. Similar problem, have two monitors connected to 3060 ti. But I have problems only when games are minimized. Haven't updated to the latest drivers as in log they are still saying problems with multimonitor setup. Although I have problem only with Acer, other monitor is from 2012 and doesn't do black screen. Acer connected to DP while LG through HDMI.

Both monitors are G-Sync Compatible with Adaptive Sync , my old one had a G-Sync module and never had an issue with the other one that has Adaptive Sync. Windows is runnng the last version and I have the latest Nvidia drivers.

Doubt that we can do anything. Most likely we need to wait for greedia to fix this which will take months at its best... maybe disabling in nvidia settings adaptive refresh will fix this, have not tried.

Try setting refresh rate to highest available in nvidia control panel and manually setting it for each display.

The first 3 things I'd check are:-

1. nVidia supports Freesync over DisplayPort but not HDMI. If you're connected via 1x DP + 1x HDMI, and if you're seeing the problem only when starting a game / ALT-TABbing, then it could be temporarily switching Freesync on / off due to the HDMI monitor connection? If your GPU has 2x DP outputs, try using those to see whether the issue goes away. Also try setting it to fixed refresh rate and re-testing to see if it is Freesync.

2. Change cables to rule out faulty cables?

3. Does the game in question need to change resolution when ALT-Tabbing? If you're playing an older game that uses a lower than native / desktop resolution, you can eliminate the need for the monitor to change resolutions when ALT-Tabbing via Adjust Desktop Size & Position -> Perform scaling on GPU (not display) + and also tick "Override the scaling mode set by games and programs".

It was already set up that way. 1 monitor to 144Hz the other one to 240Hz on the native Resolution.

Ok, if it's not refresh causing it then it might be resolution change or the monitor itself quickly cycling the ports to look for an active connection if it senses a disconnect, my old asus monitor did that.

1. Tried it didnt solve the Problem.
2. Tried didnt work.
3 Im having the Problem with the 2 games I play: BF 2042 and PUBG. My set up is: No scaling/Perform scaling on GPU/Override the scaling mode set by games and programs. Still have the problem.

I have the same issue with my Asus ROG Strix XG27UQ when the black screen happens it's because the resolution suddenly goes down to 800x640 pixel which the monitor cannot display.

Asus do not offer any kind of warranty for my monitor even they should this is why I do not want to buy a Asus monitor every again if they don't change their flicking warranty policies and get their act together.

Try to disable the g-sync compatible feature on your ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQM monitor because then it's either the displayport cable or the monitor that has a problem.

I tested another displayport cable on my own monitor same happens but I do not brother with spanking Asuxx for another monitor since mine is so expensive and Asus Denmark do not know any shit.

To go back to basics, does the issue still occur with just one connected monitor? It looks like your ROG Strix XG27AQM is 270hz whilst your Nitro VG270UP is 144Hz? Maybe it's trying to connect both at 270Hz before dropping back to 144Hz?

Its not only an Asus issue I bought the Acer Predator XB3 XB273UGX and the ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQM since both are similar Monitor because I couldnt decide between the two and both had this issue. I changed the default settings at the Nvidia Control Panel and now is taking even 2 sec longer, after reseting the settings to default it went back to 5 sec. It has to be a setting in the Nvidia Control Panel but I dont have any Idea wich one.

The G-sync feature can be turned off in the monitor's OSD that's usually how it works.

I deactivated mine and now everything works fine 4K@144hz.

The thing is I had an old Asus Monitor (ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q) running at 165Hz and had no issues with the Acer Nitro VG0 VG270UP running at 144Hz.

I deactivated the G-sync feature in the Nvidia Control Panel but havent tried to deactivated it in the Monitor. I will try that and see if it fixes the Problem.

I've no idea, I'm just throwing ideas out there. If it still happens with Freesync disabled (both on monitors and GPU driver) and if you're using the same native resolution in games as on desktop, then it sounds like it's related to refresh rate. (And it wouldn't be the first time Windows got confused...) All I can think of is have you tried messing around with Custom Resolution Utility? (Back up your settings first). What I would do is make the ROG 270Hz monitor appear as if it has a max 144Hz rate (purely as a test to see if having both be seen as having a matching max 144Hz rate eliminates it).
